Following their floppy performance in the 3-1 loss to Egypt on Tuesday, Super Eagles’ Chief Coach, Shaibu Amodu, may have wielded the big stick by dropping striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni, defenders Taye Taiwo and Obinna Nwaneri.
It was reliably gathered that there was much uproar in the Eagles’ camp after the loss with the players trading blames and also indicting Amodu for poor tactical formation.
Also, Amodu was tongue-lashed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for fielding an unfit Aiyegbeni and off form Taiwo and Nwaneri.
Consequently, Amodu has decided to try out new players in the next game against Benin Republic on Saturday. The changes could see Elderson Echiejile replacing Taye Taiwo, Osaze Odemwingie replacing Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Chidi Odiah taking the place of Yusuf Mohammed.
It was reliably gathered that Amodu was advised to make the changes in order to field only fit players for the match against Mozambique. The Eagles who is placed last in the group, plays Mozambique on Saturday in a match that will decide their progress in the competition.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles handler, Shaibu Amodu, has revealed why the Super Eagles fell 3-1 to the Pharaohs of Egypt on Tuesday. “We played well and controlled the game, especially in the first half but somehow we made some silly mistakes and we were punished.”
The erstwhile Orlando Pirates of South Africa gaffer assured Nigerians that the Super Eagles would work harder to ensure they win their next game against Benin slated for Saturday. Assistant captain, Joseph Yobo, further added that the players approached the second half of the encounter lackadaisically.

“We started well and got a goal but they came at us and equalised. They also scored early in the second half to unsettle us. Had we come out in the second half, as we did in the first half we would have won this very difficult game,” the Everton of England defender lamented.

Too late to cry over spilt milk. Femi Ajilore, Olubayo Adefemi, Dele Adeleye and Micheal Eneramo should have made the 23 man team in the First place . Now we're stuck with some very bad and pathetic players e.g Obinna Nwaneri, Yusuf Mohammed who are not even good enough to play for the U-17's and many injured players. Amodu got it wrong from the very beginning. I just hope he wins tomorrow.

Some1 should please tell me what someone like Obinna Nwaneri is doing in the S.E. That guy has never been good and will never be good and this is a FACT.

Is Nigeria normal, employing a coach that it has sacked 5 times. Amodu is not a coach and will never be a good coach.
The sooner he is sacked, the better.

Amodu is incompetent as a coach he doesn't know what he is doing. What is his justification for keep Yakubu in the march for 90 minutes?
