When Lord Yahshua talks about "SOULWINNING," (though he never used that term,) what did HE mean?

When "Pastor" E.A. ADEBOYE talks about "SOULWINNING," what does HE mean?

Not defining terms is the necessary first step of DECEPTION.

When the Lord talked about winning Souls, he meant getting people to REPENT OF THEIR SINS, AND SERVE HIM WITHOUT RESERVATION, being COMPLETELY CONVERTED.

By this definition, the Lord NEVER made a SINGLE Convert his entire Ministry.

(Yes,I know: you have never heard that, your whole life!)

When some modern Pastor talks about SOULWINNING, they mean RECRUITING PEOPLE INTO THEIR CHURCH SYSTEM- AS FINANCIAL MEMBERS. They may TALK about "NOT WANTING MONEY," but they would be LYING. They may not extract cash out of a "convert" the second, the minute, the hour, the day, nor the month they cross the threshold into their Churches, but that is only because PREVIOUS MEMBERS ARE PAYING THE BILLS.

I used to respect KENNETH ERWIN HAGIN, and would never have suspected him of any level of wrongdoing.

95% of what I know about FAITH I learned from HIM.

I was perplexed at a story he told about a meeting he preached for someone in his early Full Gospel days:

He preached people to "conversion," using their "ALTAR CALL," PSYCHOLOGICAL TRICK, then asked the preacher he was working for about the people he had "Converted." Had he not collected their names and addresses, and made arrangements for their follow-ups, and membership in his church?

The Pastor said that he had not.

"I figured, that if they got anything out of it, they'll be back!" he said smugly.

I could not understand Kenneth Hagin's reply:

"I'M CLOSING THE MEETING TOMORROW NIGHT!" he said he replied.

I could not see the relevance of his response- though it was obviously supposed to be significant. I read it in his book, and heard him on tape. (In those days, only Cassette Tapes were availsble.)

A Gospel Singer named DAVID INGLES had a lighthearted album dedicated to Kenneth Hagin's Ministry, I don't know what its real title was. I think it was one of Kenneth Hagin's Catchphrases: "DON'T SHOUT ME DOWN, COZ' I'M PREACHING TOO GOOD!" which he would sometime crack, when he had silenced the crowd with some incisive observation.

David Ingles included a song about that very story, and, for the first time, I got to hear the entirety of Kenneth Hagin's comment on that Pastor's behaviour:

"I COULDN'T PREACH THERE,

I then understood that Kenneth Hagin had been ANGRY with the Pastor for not recruiting the people whom he had converted.

That was the LAST thing I would have expected of him.

He cited another Pastor who had made some converts out of a meeting, and asked him how he had done it.

He said that he had endeavored to talk with them after the meeting, and had urged them to join "a good Gospel Church," without telling them to come to THEIRS: but some of them did.

THEY SEEMED TO HAVE THE IDEA THAT IT WAS WRONG OF THEM TO TELL NEW CONVERTS TO COME TO THEIR CHURCH. There were REASONS why they THOUGHT like that; THE WAY THEY WERE TRAINED- they apparently thought that it would be ARROGANCY to try to INDUCE people to join their churches.

KENNETH HAGIN was EXPELLED from the BAPTIST DENOMINATION, when he received "THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST."

There was NO SUCH THING as "FULL-GOSPEL" BIBLE SCHOOL- so that they were invariably more-or-less SELF-TAUGHT.

Had Kenneth Hagin been a REAL Man-of-Faith, he would have OBEYED YAHSHUA, and TOLD that Pastor what he was doing wrong- instead of packing up his Bat And his Ball, and going home, because the Game wasn't going the way he wanted it to- WITHOUT HIS TELLING ANYONE.

TOMMY LEE OSBORN, from the same town, had an International Miracle Ministry.

He was famous for having Miracle Crusades across Africs , with ACRES of Blacks hanging on his words.

Someone quoted him as saying, that it LOOKED like they were "SUCCESSFUL," but that if you went back to those places where they had hundreds of thousands of people converted, TWO WEEKS LATER, that YOU COULDN'T FIND ANY OF THEM!

So- what was the POINT of all of that?

Do you know that regular evangelism can keep you in shape spiritually? If you belong to Christ, you are like a living tree that produces fruit (Psalm 1:3). Any tree that produces good fruit will definitely be appreciated by its owner. Bearing spiritual fruit is one obvious sign that you are still spiritually alive. If you are winning souls often, it shows you are growing spiritually. It takes obedience to the Holy Spirit and partnership with Him to win a soul and to give life to the spiritually dead. If you are not bearing fruit, it could be because you are dead or separated from God. A dead fellow cannot be used as an agent of life. Moreover, in the course of soul-winning, there are some ideas, teachings and abilities that the Holy Spirit will endow you with which you may not easily access through any other means.

This is a HALF of a DOUBLE-LIE.

EVANGELISM may keep you in Spiritual Health, but FAILURE TO MAKE CONVERTS does not reflect on YOUR Spiritual Health whatsoever! How could it? Lord Yahshua FAILED TO CONVERT A SINGLE SOUL, while he was on the Earth.

The evangelist is a true fellow-worker with God. On the other hand, the fellow who does not win souls is not bringing joy to God’s heart and is also not showing signs of spiritual life. If you continue your Christian life without leading others to Christ, you may be cut off from your Source (John 15:2, Luke 13:7). It therefore follows that if you want to grow spiritually, you must make soul-winning a regular activity. You must win souls and continue to win more souls. If you are actively winning souls, you will experience God’s special love and attention. God will also answer your prayers more easily, and increase your capacity to be fruitful by taking away hindrances to fruitfulness from your life. Using your attitude to soul-winning as a benchmark, are you dead or alive?
