Hmmm

I dont know what to say...Amaechi tried it one time in Port Harcourt...the rate of hand-set snatching just went up by over 500%..the following week the illegal fee was restored...and crime came down ...
the truth is these agboros are just criminals ...

Thats just it, if they can be cut off their useless jobs and the police swing into action by monitoring every corner of the state, most of them will either go back to their village or resolve to their hand works. Every state should improvise and invent latest technology on monetizing the commercial buses and bikes, while graduates can pick up better jobs there.

Big fat lie. Agberos are still everywhere shouting owo mi da. They'll never listen to ambode. And ambode is just deceiving lagosians. It is only the FG through the NA or NN that can get rid of these agbero miscreants.

Doesn't matter

Those that own businesses around that area know that it matters. They question to ask is, would govenment provide added security around these places? I doubt if they the capacity to do so.

Agboro unionism is akin to giving a thief the responsibility of watching over something he is more likely to steal. Like the proverbial tick that perches on the scrotum, it cannot be removed by force.

This method has been tried before, and the ripple effect was not encouraging.

It is one thing to announce the ban on Agberos,it is another to gather the necessary strong arm to enforce same.
In the words of the Rivers Gangs godfather (Ateke Tom), "make we dey watch dem".

Your excellency, ban all collections if you are towing the plan for megacity in Lagos. All collections should go to Government purse nothing short of that.

Agberos are one of the easiest people to defeat but politicians in Lagos need them for election rigging. Na dem be the Tompolo, Dokubo of Lagos politics.
Funny enough, it was the "visionary" Tinubu that empowered them in Lagos. Rubbish.

I remember those days when I was small. Operation sweep was a combination of Army and Mobile Policemen. In my area then, they can arrest you for sitting on the pavement on the street... they put one of my friends uncle in their pick-up truck just for sitting on pavement on the road... he looked rough so they said he looks like a thug.
