LAUTECH Students protest in Abuja as IGP approves action

Students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso who are presently in Abuja have commenced a peaceful protest to the National Assembly complex.

The peaceful protest commenced after the students had submitted a notification letter to the office of the Inspector General of Police  at the Force Headquarters Central Area, Abuja.

Ajilete FM news, which has been monitoring the journey of the students since they took-off from Ogbomoso yesterday evening gathered that the office of the Inspector General of police acknowledged the receipt of their letter and gave a nod to their peaceful protest.

The students numbering about a hundred are led by the executive of the students Union Government of the institution.

They are in Abuja to further present the plight of the institution especially as regards its improper funding by the two owner states of Oyo and Osun before the National Assembly.

The situation led to an eight months industrial action, which was later resolved.

However non-payment of salary arrears of staff of the University and inability of government to meet the demands of workers ‘unions have again made ASUU LAUTECH branch to commence another round of indefinite strike action.

Meanwhile, Students of LAUTECH have taken the peaceful protest to the National Universities Commission, NUC, Abuja.

A DETAILED REPORT ON ABUJA MOVEMENT

7TH(Thursday) JUNE 2017

As the sage has it "THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP"
It is so down in the mouth,so saddened, so annoying that majority taught ABUJA MOVEMENT is a waste of time, energy resources & struggle but I must be sincere with you, this ABUJA MOVEMENT has now shown a ray of hope and the expectation is now skyrocketing....

After travelling for about 12hrs,we finally arrived at FCT(Abuja)...

We went straight down to the IG(Inspector-General) office, to submit our letter to notify him(Last of it's kind)of our struggles and we are given 1/2 of the letter of Acknowledgements....
The letter grants us permission to stage our APPEALS/PROTEST anywhere in abuja, all praise to the leadership of ABUJA-MOVEMENT (likes of SOLACE,OTUNBA,PLANET,SUPREME,EMIR,HORLANAWTHY,IJOBA,ALUTA-ROCKET,ETC)

Then the ABUJA-MOVEMENT immediately moved directly to the NUC(NATIONAL UNIVERSITIES COMMISSION) to appeal to the Central-Executive-Executives to notify them officially and also to appeal for a lasting solution for LAUTECH...The executive of the NUC & secretary for the ministry of education had a meeting with the leadership of the ABUJA-MOVEMENT while the remaining LADOKITE sings Aluta-songs and display for the onlookers..... After holding a serious meeting for about 2hrs it the NUC said the only way forward is for them to distribute Ladokites into different university in Nigeria, if nothing is done sooner by the government but they complained that they can't suggest to the federal government to take over lautech but we are directed to the federal ministry of education.........
And about 2pm the SUG OF UNI-ABUJA joined our movement and finally we marched down to FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION to see the minister of education (Prof.Adamu) but it was unfortunate that he was in a meeting but the permanent-secretary of the federal ministry of education.... And we blocked the road in front of the ministry of education and the students of Uni-Abuja supported us and pledge their allegiance to the leadership of Abuja-Movement and Lautech generally....

Then we are promised that the federal government will contact the two state government and they have been contacted already....
Then we retired back to Uni-Abuja before heeding to lodge at Iddo @Abuja and we are been taken special care of.........

LIGHT OUT FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT....
Thursday(8th of June,2017)

Presently we are going to NATIONAL HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY
PRAY FOR US WE ARE GOING NOW TO NATIONAL HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY
SAVE LAUTECHRE-OPEN LAUTECH
