So what do they want? - Imported rice is only cheaper than locally produced rice. - So until you farmers reduce your selling price, until then would the trend reverse - Look at that poster that reads "no farmer no nation" UP NORTH!!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

Keneking:This did not happen today if the past leaders had done a quarter of what has been done in the last 6years about rice there would be no problem about rice. Every policy is not without its teething stages. It would be a grave mistake if government starts importation of rice now. |

I hope the forex situation is not aiding importation again, to the detriment of local production. |

They are right, though the price is quiet high, it's all good for the Nigeria economy. More people will embrace rice farming, processing factories will spring up, Nigerians will be employed and forex will be saved. |

The gov probably eats imported rice in his home. No farmers, No nation. They are right on that, but it's not simply banning importation that will lead to creating a better environment for local farmers to thrive. They need to thrive and produce enough for local production first before the product can be outrightly banned. 1 Like |

It seems everyone in Nigeria is comfortable with the short term gains of price crash through importation at the expense of strengthening a robust rice value chain that can suffice for local consumption as well as earn us commercial dollars in export. Should there be any further crash in petro-dollars earnings, the future might just be now!! Good people, think!!!! 2 Likes |

A friend of mine asked me if I'm willing to go to London... See question!! who wants to stay in this Nigeria where 1. Fowls rape themselves 2. Exam questions come out before the proposed examination date 3. Bigger Banana are cheaper while smaller ones are expensive 4. You buy Suya 100 Naira and when you get home, you realise the Aboki sold Onions 70 Naira and meat 30 Naira 5. Garri is more expensive than Noodles.. Try drinking the Garri for 20 Days straight,Falz Glasses will be small size compared to your own 6. You get Pirated Yoruba movie and you get home to see Bruce Lee(Enter the Dragon Part 1) 7. Ghosts in nollywood fear cars when crossing the Road because They don't want to die again If you advice me to stay in Nigeria ehn! Hmmmmmmmn just dnt let me talk!!!!! 1 Like 1 Share |

Without importation of rice Nigeria can not survive, because the population of Nigeria is three much of what they are producing, so farmers be wise .

Instead of them to demand for an enabling environment that would make them get more rice to sell, they want the govt to ban rice importation. |
