This is an interview session on “Rise and Shine” by Mr. Tayo Olugbade with Mr. Peter Amoo on Impact Business Radio 92.5FM.

DATE: 25th May, 2017

Good morning to you Mr. Peter Amoo

Good morning, it’s nice to be here again.

Good to have you too on the program

Thanks so much.

I just said it that 85% of fresh graduate, a staggering number finding a job is the most difficult. But the question is should they really be looking for a job when experts talk about creating jobs?

Let me start this way by saying that there is this school of thought that says: there are three kind of people; there are those that allow things to happen to them, there are those that watch things happen to them and there are those who actually make things happen. As far as Nigeria Is concerned, looking at the era of Colonialism taking over Independence, looking up to the UK, foreign countries for aid, bringing it down to where we are today. Nigerians have been more of things happening to them. Nigeria has been more of watching things happen, you know, taking the left over. But if graduates are going to move from the era of looking for job and start creating jobs, they need to start making things happen. They need to start changing their orientation, not when they are out of school but right from their very young age. Parents will tell you to go to school, get good grades so you can get a good job. That is where the problem actually starts from, and when you try to be innovative, in the course of it, you could destroy one or two things; you could get your fingers burnt. Your parents will be like; you are being mischievous whereas you are actually exhibiting some characters that should be nurtured. But because your parents are not aware, they are not conscious of it, they just want you to get good grades so that you can get good job not knowing that it’s not going to continue like that. We have been brainwashed to move in that direction, now that direction is not favoring us anymore and it’s high time graduates, not even just graduates but from secondary school students starts to express their inner qualities, their inner gifts because that is actually where their wealth is.
