The police in Imo State on Thursday reunited a 10 - month - old baby , Tochukwu Peter , who was stolen and sold for N650 , 000 , to his parents , Mr . and Mrs. Okechukwu Peter .
Three suspects – Ogechi Chukwuocha, 42 ; Calista Igwe , 38 ; and Chimezie , 32 – were also paraded for their roles in the abduction of the child .
The state Police Public Relations Officer , Andrew Enwerem , said the child was stolen from his mother , Udoka Peter , on June 15 , 2017 , in Ogbaku, in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state .
The police spokesperson said the prime suspect , one Favour Nwekem , who allegedly stole the baby , was still at large , adding that the operatives of the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department raided the syndicate ’ s den in Orlu on June 20 and rescued the child unhurt .
Enwerem said , “ The case was reported on June 15 ; we rescued the stolen baby on June 20 . ”
The PPRO said one Ogechi Chukwuocha bought the child for N650 , 000 , adding that Chukwuocha had confessed to the crime .
The father of the baby said the stealing of his son brought trauma to his household .
