It wont work.

The objective will only be achieved if all network providers support it. Stolen devices would have their IMEI blacklisted once reported.

but once your phone is taken off you successfully, you don fxck up....no long thinh

In collaboration with a software company, the Computer and Allied Product Dealers Association of Nigeria (CAPDAN), a trade association of Ikeja Computer Village market traders, has developed a web portal which enables the tracking of stolen phones.

All traders are expected to register every buyer who purchases any item from them (especially mobile phones) on the web portal.

Mr. Adeniyi Ojikutu, the CAPDAN President, said:
“In the event that a mobile phone was stolen and returned to the market for sale, the trader could quickly log on to the portal to verify if the phone was stolen. If verified that it was a stolen phone, the trader would quickly alert the real owner and the police would be invited for necessary prosecution."

The Chinese built the Great Wall of China to protect the kingdom from rampaging Mongols.

Sadly, the kingdom were invade 3 times within the first 100 years.

Why? How? The invaders simply bribed the gatekeepers and they were let in.

All these security provided in computer Village is a waste if sellers of phone are uncooperative.

Remember, there are those who specialise in selling stolen phones. They won't give a rat's behind about this provision

It won't work.

See reasons here.

1, If the dealer doesn't contact the real owner nko?

2, If they don't take it to the village for sale nko?

3, If they trade it for another phone nko?

3, If they sale it as a scrap no?

4, Any other loophole u could think off.

You see the reasons it won't work?

It will be only nice & effective if they can come up with laws, regulations, requirements before flasing & unlocking of phones.

Most phones stolen are only aided by flashing and unlocking.

If they can stop or regulate flashing & unlocking of phones, phone theft issues will be minimal.

I only suggested o.

Add ur own.

Thank you.

this is futile without the support of telcos operators, all the operators need to do is just blacklist the phone on all network. it will no longer work on any network in Nigeria.

I don't think this can work to track any phone stolen by experts. These guys can change the IMEI of the phone which will definitely make it different from the original.

wow.. what a nice development.. sometimes I wonder why people go into so much stress in stealing phones just to sell... It's very hard. Making money the legit way Is so easy if you just follow the rules.

A wise man once said that making money is the easiest thing to make, I think I personally can attest to that.

As someone has said, what about phone not bought in Computer village? Also, the 'tracking' may not be foolproof if the initial buyer has changed number or is unreachable.

Well, maybe if they start other phone markets will join in. In the long run if this registration becomes widespread, it might even encourage buyers to buy phones only in markets where it will be registered.

It is like owning a phone. It is not worth much if there are no other users you can call. But as users multiply your phone becomes more valuable. So the real benefit will be derived if 'reg and track' spreads.

In conclusion, I say GOOD IDEA.

Very innovative move...
Can they create a data base for those who
did not purchase from Computer Village?
