Ever wondered why Charles Dickens, in his classic - Oliver Twist, described the law as an ass, a stupid or an idiotic abstraction or person? It is because just anyone, including Evans of Nigeria, can ride on the back of the law to torment, with his audacity, the already tormented victims - abductees. Indeed, tormented Nation! The effigy of justice is generally blind and welcomes all to ride on the back of the law either to prison or freedom, prosperity or poverty, and so on and so forth. So Evans truly has the constitutional right to do what he just did. Everyone has the right to challenge detention without trial. Let's not debate that. What Evans lacks, if he ever had one before, is the humanity to ever deserve the grace of the law. And his lawyer? A typical busy-body who doesn't draw the line between law and morality, between good and bad, between sensible and insensible, between dignity and money. I hope i am wrong on this!
A lawyer who draws the lines or knows how to draw them would have advised Evans to tarry a while. It is just too early for an Evans to seek to ride on the back of the law to demand "justice" from detention without trial. No one deserves detention without trial, but not all detentions are unjustifiable even at law. Long detention to allow for proper investigation is one of them.
All said, it is heartwarming to read from the Police that they have an order of court for a 3 months extension of the detention of Evans without trial and pending their 'cross-border' investigation. Let's hope that's truly the case. At the end we shall all see where the law takes Evans. From the back of the ass straight to prison, then to the gallow, or to freedom? Only time will tell.
A human right lawyer stated that Justice in Nigeria is pretty expensive in such a way that only the elites can afford it, in fact he added that they do not only afford justice they manipulate it in their favor, this is happening in our very eyes while we #SidonLook and dance Azonto upon Restructuring. We have uncountable suspects in our prisons today so have spent so many years in detentions because they have no fund to access exorbitant Nigerian justice system, the state is saddled with provision lawyers to anyone who cannot afford one but has not lived up to that responsibility.
Our politicians and religious leaders hardly spend a night in prison before their lawyers begin to apply for bail. Even Sule threatened that Nigeria will burn if they keep him in prison over night but never borders about potential tithe payers in there, as a matter of fact, prisons are one of the best places to win souls not the business men and salaried workers .
Evans who is notorious for keeping victims for 7 months in captivity now has the right to sue the police for keeping him beyond 48 hours. why because he has money to access our justice system, what else are operations of the beast if not using mammon to access anything ?
One of the responsibilities of CHRISTians is to give Justice FREELY, Christ specifically mentioned a visit to Prisons. The cost of one Mega Church building in Nigeria can hire a team of lawyers to defend those innocent kids in our prisons. Instead assembling partners who contribute money in churches, they can assemble a team lawyers who can provide free services
Something is wrong when A christian nation bottles up inside edifices enjoying air conditions and shouting hallelujah while God's children are lavishing in the worst prisons on earth.
No Justice even inside the Church
In an Anglican church in my town, My retired mum who is now a grandmother was preached to pay 50k to just dip her finger in a plate of olive oil and smear on her forehead to access favor.
In my present church, a pastor claimed he doesn't pray for the barren, he just instruct them to pay tithes to access fruit of the womb.
We have seen him forcing people to pay $1,000 , N1,000 for every they live on earth to access glorious living
Pay a seed against disgrace to access grace of God and are all keeping mute not thinking deep
Why are we this wicked? Why have we allowed the devil to take charge of our conscience ?
Today, righteous people are being murdered, EFCC investigators are being shot. Evil is fasting taking the center stage in Nigeria, if we don't rise up we not never find peace even the most peaceful house of God as long as Nigeria is concerned. Think deeply. These explained reason why God may have turned his back on us as a nation..Same applies to my friends in other religion. # TruthHurts
