Some countries are so unknown and so small that most people don’t know they exist.

Despite there being more than 200 countries in the world, we usually think we’ve heard of them all at least once. However, some countries are so unknown and so small that most people don’t know they exist. In addition to being small, they also have relatively low populations, meaning it’s unlikely you’ll ever meet anyone from that country.

Here is a list of ten countries that are so small you could easily think it is a small town or even a village.

The Republic of Palau is a country made up of several hundred islands and is one of the most extraordinary places on Earth. It has a diverse range of flora and fauna including exotic plants and birds. It is home to around 150 species of endangered sharks. Despite all these already exciting attractions, the major attraction of Palau is its huge lake which is home to over 2 million jellyfish. The lake has the most creative name you’ll ever hear: Jellyfish Lake! The best part is, they have completely lost their ability to sting so swimming with them is harmless.

Niue is one large island located in the Oceania region. It is a scenically magnificent place, but tourism rarely occurs there; therefore, their only source of earning is foreign aid mostly from New Zealand.

The capital city itself is a small village with a population of 600 people. It does have an airport though and has one decent supermarket for the entire country.

Saint Kitts and Nevis is a country made of two islands called Saint Kitts and Nevis. Although the area is small, the locals have found a way of earning which is their Economic Citizenship Program in which anyone who wants to become a citizen if Saint Kitts must invest $250,000 into the local sugar industry. Another way of becoming a citizen is if an individual purchases land on any of the two islands which have a worth of $400,000 or more.

A man named Leonard Casley declared his farm a separate country back in 1970. He has since made passports for the country and his currency for expenses. Tourists can often see busts of Mr. Casley who has given himself the title of His Royal Highness Prince Leonard I of Hutt. The Principality of Hutt is not recognized by any country as an official country, but Leonard Casley is adamant it is his own country.

Tuvalu is one of the smallest and poorest countries in the world. The economic state of the country has been helped greatly by allotting the country the .tv internet domain which companies buy for their websites. It generates millions of dollars annually for Tuvalu. Tuvalu is also assumed to be one of the first countries to be lost to rising sea levels in the oceans.

Nauru is a country which is known for one thing, that is the most obese country in the world. It has a 70% obesity rate. Nauru has no capital city or public transport, and locals get around on their private vehicles. They don’t have to drive much though as there are only 25 miles of roads in the country.
