1. The HOR has no power to reverse an executive decision on curriculum of education. It is not within their remits. There is a process in which curriculum is reviewed, updated, ammendate and some aspect discarded. It is nothing something that is just "agreed" on the floor of the House of Rep....

2. Arabic is NOT made compulsory for anybody. Unnecessary use of wrong choice of languange is not a basis for credible argument. Arabic is OPTIONAL for those that choose to do so

3. There is no statistical evidence to back up your claim that French teachers are scarce in Nigeria. They said u can choose minimum of nine subjects and maximum of 10 but there ar 10 subjects available there which makes French and Arabic the last two subjects to choose from after the student must have selected the other eight important subjects. That's exactly what making French or Arabic as electives imply. If they want to make both French and Arabic not to be compulsory, then let them make it that somebody can decide not to offer any of them and there won't be problem, but as it is, let me ask u, can somebody decide not to offer both of them? The person dares not, that makes one compulsory in the absence of the other. And with the scarcity of French secondary school teachers, Arabic would indirectly become compulsory in schools that don't have French secondary school teachers. Just as Igbo became compulsory in most schools in my state then who didn't have Yoruba and Hausa teachers.
Now regarding scarcity of French secondary school teachers in Nigeria, we don't need to argue about this, maybe I didn't put it well to clarify. How many schools both in the north and south have French secondary school teachers? But English, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa even Arabic secondary school teachers abound everywhere to even university level. An average imam can teach Arabic to any level, we have so many graduates of English, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa in Nigeria that can teach these subjects to students even in SSCE classes, but we can't say same for French. There ar very few of them, or do u expect the schools to go import French teachers from abroad to teach French?

Now to the gist that I said you did not get,nobody is talking about Islamic Religious Knowledge but Arabic studies.
In 2014 there was basic school curriculum to have a uniform curriculum across the country. NERDC was given the duty and they reviewed 22 different subjects into 7 headings which made some subjects have sub under it. An example is Religious and National Values which have CRK,IRS, Civic Education, Social studies etc. It has two or three more sub-headings like that. The policy states that different classes should be used for CRK or IRS depending on which one you want to study.
For Arabic, it is stated clearly as "OPTIONAL" and the heading of the list of subjects reads "a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 7 subjects(which is for anyone offering Arabic)".
With this there should have been no cries to the Ag. President or the media of CRK being scrapped or IRS being imposed.
Arabic was the bone of contention not CRK or IRS. Their claim is Arabic is imposed on their children when they are not Muslims. This is false and an open minded look into NERDC website will educate anyone interested in facts.
The spread of this falsehood by CAN,Apostle Suleman and others is being portrayed as if the curriculum was introduced under the Buhari led administration by a Muslim northerner Minister of Education (knowing fully well the state of religious divides in the country in which a small ignition can lead to destruction of lots of things) where as it was introduced under Jonathan administration with Wike as the coordination minister of education I guess.

Well, that's your opinion. Some of us feel the world will be worse without it and won't risk having that worse world.
