Talk of Nigeria being "self sufficient" in rice is pure nonsense, as we don't have any competitive advantage in growing the product when compared with countries like China and Thailand which have been doing so for literally thousands of years. In any case, the biggest problems Nigerian farmers face are the same ones all other sectors of the Nigerian economy have to deal with: lack of access to affordable credit, lack of clear title to land, poor transport infrastructure, general insecurity (e.g. herdsmen attacks), insufficient power supply, etc. Until these problems are fixed, all of Ogbeh's bad-mouthing of imports will achieve nothing more than the many, many other lectures about "self sufficiency" that have come from Nigerian political hypocrites, i.e. absolutely nothing.

It's fortunate for imbeciles like Ogbeh that the Nigerian masses are so docile, as in many other countries he would be stoned off the platform or worse for uttering what everybody listening knows is nothing but a lie.
