So, Ikeja GRA is dead, Calabar metropolis, Tinapa, Obudu Ranch, Akwa Ibom, etc are not there?

Our Oceans, Beaches- Badagry, Lekki, Eleko, etc, Hotels, etc are not there?

Our forests, waterfalls, mountains, hills, games reserves, etc are not there?

Be deceiving yourself, later you will say we don't have a good government, forgetting that our real problems are resident and inherent in the followers.

While at it you can suggest the hospitals listed below for Buhari, or better still ask Lai Mohammed to pass the info along:

University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Ahmadiyya Hospital Newbussa.

National Hospital, Abuja.

Lagoon Hospital Lagos

Reddington Hospital Lagos

Sir Yahaya memorial Hospital,Kebbi.

ECWA Hospital Egbe.

Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta.

ECWA Evangel Hospital, Jos.

etc

Yes we do, but it depends on the taste of these guys. FG is not supporting the entertainment industry so they've got no say.
Just my thought on this matter, how about the job opportunities that this move would bring, if only you know how much leaves the shores of this country in the name of recording movies. But my take is it shouldn't just be the movie industry, it should also be applicable to other sectors e.g the health sector

With bad power supply??

As if bad power supply has ever stopped them shooting videos. There are some nice music videos shot in Nigeria. Infact, I find most of the ones done abroad bland. E no pass half naked girls shaking yansh.
Aye video by davido still remains one of his most watched videos.
I like Jamb question , Mr Soldier videos of Falz and Simi, Looking for Johnny video of Yemi Alade. Etc.

I understand the challenges faced in Nigeria, so don't think I don't. At the same time too, any video shot abroad provides an economic boost to that country, more jobs for the locals there.
In the long run, Nigerians will still benefit from having videos shot in Nigeria.

The only thing I'm not sure of is the legality of such a declaration

And that is enough for a sane government to make shooting videos outside the country a crime??even some of the best hollywood movies is shot outside America....a good government should focus more on enabling good environment for business to thrive in...have a good day

Lai Mohammed Reacts To Criticism - This Is The Reason Why FG Is Stopping Production Of Local Movies & Music Abroad

The Minister of Information and Culture of Nigeria, Lai Mohammed, has reacted to criticisms trailing his recent pronouncement on steps being taken by the government to discourage the production of Nigerian movies and music outside the country.

In a chat with PT on Sunday, he said it was to tackle the exploitation of perceived loopholes in the Nigerian Broadcasting Code, NBC.

“The NBC code today as it stands has been exploited and not defined and that’s why movies being directed by Nigerians with Nigerian actors, actresses can be shot in South Africa and then brought back to be consumed in Nigeria.

All we are saying is that we are going to amend the code in a manner that it will not be possible for you to exploit any loophole there to go and shoot outside Nigeria film, music or programs that are meant to be consumed in Nigeria,” Mr. Mohammed said.

The Minister on Saturday said the government had taken steps to get the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, NBC to put an end to the trend of producing Nigerian music, movie and programs abroad. This however drew criticism from Nigerians who asked the minister to address the issue of government officials going for medical treatment abroad first before sanitising the movie industry.

However, the minister said the government had no ill-feeling in its move to dissuade Nigerian films from being produced abroad.

“It is not directed at any particular incident, every country should respect the local industry of other countries.

For example, in Ghana they introduced a law today that demands visiting actors to pay a thousand dollars to the government coffers while visiting directors and producers pay 5,000 dollars.

We must create an enabling environment and also generate revenue from our creative industry. The argument is simple, when you go to shoot a film offshore, you use the work force of that country to develop the capacity of that country and you improve the economy of that country and that is what we are trying to do here.”

Abeg govt should bring policies to stop themselves from going abroad for medical check ups and treatment when we have the best of doctors or are they saying they don't trust our medical systems? If yes then we might also say we don't trust Thier intentions in all these policies.

He is right actually

When you accumulate resources in Nigeria and the go to SA to expend these resources...for example, you will pay for operating licenses, locations, houses equipments, hotel accomodations plus feeding and also pay video vixens and other related workers...by so doing, you are boosting the Economy of SA. You now take your finished product back to Nigeria for consumption... then later take the money again and off to SA or Ghana or Kenya and do same all over... You cant do this in the Europe or US. You have to pay much back in terms of charges and taxes.

This man is trying to safe the youths who are jobless but unfortunately the youths are the one castigating his actions...

Such unserious elements are so rampant in this generation...

Yes but look it from most Nigerian youth perspective and that of producers. Do you remember when omoni oboli complained of shooting a movie in Lagos that she was held hostage, What has the government done about this ?.Secondly has the government created an enabling environment for music producers to strive? Why not encourage producers to shoot movies in Nigeria by giving them incentives to motivate them instead he's clamouring for banning. That's how things are done not just banning. But again his policy maybe in the right direction so we should take his advice in a pinch of salt for our own good

This brings to mind, the issue of BBN, shot in south Africa for the Nigerian audience. Though the government is not good we all know that but somehow two wrongs don't make right. Tell me what requirements for the BBN production we don't have in Nigeria. With all the discrimination south African pay us back with. If we fix some wrong we are getting closer to promise land but if we let everything halt, that is bad

Why are some people so pathetic and nitwit and also full of negativity. Many people commenting here didn't even understand or not ready to read the message but because it came from their perceived enemy and hate party they could not withstand the truth on the head. Many that have not gone out of their comfort zone are even claiming no good location in Nigeria. It's a pity that some people have sold their conscience in trade for politicking. You cannot know more than where you've been to in life. There are many attractive and heaven on earth locations in Nigeria that will make your heart think you're in abroad. Come to think of it, a single location can be used for different scenes just by changing outlook. Video shooting have gone scientific with different artistic display.
We cannot continue to pretend that until one thing is good before another can be good. Many of these artists started from this local content and same local content that brought them to limelight but themselves refused to develop the system that made them but instead I'm to develop another environment after been made. If they had not made enough money would they think of shooting outside? Capital no. They need to give back to the society that made them to bring out the best they so desired from the system.
The artists are as guilty as the politicians and other individuals that have gained from the system but refused to give back to the system that made them. Peter Okoye should understand the point of government and stop being childish because he has arrived. Can a struggling artist think of shooting abroad.?
May God bless u for diz comment

Aside from the hatred for anything Apc and Lai Mohammed, we should learn to articulate our opinions reasonably and rationally devoided of impulsive tirades.
We have to emancipate ourselves from the mental slavery of saying , "if something doesnt change what We can change mustnt change too."
76 (a movie that grossed N600m) the movies that won the most awards at the just concluded AMA was shoot in Nigeria....precisely Ibadan. And to be accurate , mostly in Mokola Military Barrack.
A creative director can shoot his movie anywhere . All he has to do his recreate the setting to fit the real setting. Doing this is largely cheaper. We all saw Marvel's "Civil War The Avengers " The Lagos scene was not shot in Lagos . Why didnt they come to Lagos to shot? Because theyll have to spend more to move the actors, pay our govt and lets not forget the Area boys. Shuga and Jenifa's Diary were all shot in lagos . We have very lovely locations in Nigeria , after all , its a Nigerian story we are telling.
If we dont start to grow our own industry and we are waiting for one Mallam Buhari or Akpabio to go to Luth or UCH and treat his ailment before we grow our local content, that may never happen.
Even Ghana is milking us, because of What?!
The Govt should just create more support and security and watch people take the challenge.
This policy is all inclusive with gurus in the entertainment industry making contributions. Its not an imposition policy that will be inimical to Nigerian entertainers

However, there are certain instance where the location of the movie may not be a nigerian one and you need foriegn location...that case is understandable
Educate dem

And by the way the examples that this old fool is giving is from working countries... Those guys are supporting their film industries... Aside Goodluck's administration, which other administration has shown these guys love ?
These artists and actors/actresses single handedly upped their game and grew the industry... One the Lai Mohammed is seeking to destroy with their usual bad policies?

Which foreign actor will want to come and waste his hard earned cash on locations that are
Not safe
With bad roads
Community youth problems aka agberos
No security
Very unstable electricity
Stupid videography laws (I hope you heard about the law for using drones)

Bros, we have more pressing issues right now. No be film and music be our problems

And someone should tell that fool to call his co-horts to stop educational and medical tourism as well as vacations abroad and as start buying home made products...
Then maybe we will start listening to him
Rubbish.
