Let's be clear... It should be bitumen licence not oil licence. Any attempt or attempted attempt to increase Ondo derivative through any ficticious ponzi scheme will be met with resistance.

Nigerians like cheap rhetorics that ends on paper. Hear him, ondo has one of the longest coastlines in Africa! Why do supposed educated people keep making this ridiculous & stvpid statement? Does it even make sense, is ondo now a country on its own? If it is, does it now have longer coastline than Senegal, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Libya, Egypt, S.Africa, Angola etc? Did they just discover the bitumen? What about several other licences granted in the past? Ondo generates 12% of crude oil? What is the business of NDDC in constructing roads that traverses Ogun & Lagos, are they oil producing states? I know the long suffering & gullible people of his state will be dancing when the governor was busy reeling out all those beautiful nonsense thinking their state was about to become Dubai. Mr governor, talk is cheap so wake us up when you've done just 25% of all those propaganda rhetorics. Next please!

Oil yes, but heavy oil, that means probably 70-85% bitumen constituent...

Yes..bitumen(a form of heavy crude oil) can be further refined to conventional crude oil....

If it's ain't crude oil it ain't it. Bitumen is bitumen, crude is crude.

Oh now I know that Coal in enugu is also oil

Olodo...Bitume is crude.
Canada is regarded as one of the largest producers of crude oil in the world because of its large deposit of bitumen.

But where is lalasticlala sef undecided

"Ondo State as one of the nine oil and gas producing states has abundant oil and gas reserves that remain undeveloped, even though we produce about 12 % of the daily oil production in the country."

Only 12% - ?All That Is

Base on over statics that the country produces over 2m barrels daily, over 12% means over 200k daily output from Ondo. Now looking at the revenue side, that's at average of $50 per barrel that's more than $10m daily revenue and yet extraction from that alone is still at it's very minimal, less than 20% of what they are capable of doing. And even if you have 11 states producing oil and 1 state is doing more than 10% of collective output, my Broda its something.

There's big hope with Ondo, Yoruba nation won't suffer cum what may.

It will be several years yet, may be decades, before the bitumen in Ondo state will be mined. The cost of mining it is so high, it's simply not viable presently.

As for the coastal road to Lagos, and all the so-called free trade zone by the coast... it's all pie in the sky. These projects are unlikely to take off.

Instead of unattainable big-ticket projects like these, the government should focus on smaller, more realistic & achievable projects.

Oil sands, also known as tar sands, or more technically bituminous sands, are a type of unconventional petroleum deposit. Oil sands are either loose sands or partially consolidated sandstone containing a naturally occurring mixture of sand, clay, and water, saturated with a dense and extremely viscous form of petroleum technically referred to as bitumen (or colloquially as tar due to its superficially similar appearance)

Lesser percentage of light HC or sweetening doesnt matter anymore. In Alberta....60% of extracted bitumen is sold directly to market, without an intermediary upgrading step (i.e 60% would be sold to refineries that do not need upgrading it to conventional crude before refining it straight to petrol, kerosine e.t.c. This is because many North American refineries are now designed to refine bitumen straight from extraction.
This is also due to the rising production of heavy crude oil from Venezuela(lots of bitumen) and Mexico.

Most Gulf Coast refineries have been modified to better handle heavier crude streams, which are generally less expensive than light/sweet crude.

Canada is currently the largest exporter of oil to the US and most of these oil are extracted from bitumen since Canada's reserve is around 95% bitumen.

pain me? lol, I was only disgusted by the display of ignorance in high places! What do you understand by coastline? Did the ignorant and mischievous governor say longest coastline in Nigeria or among the coastal states in Nigeria? He said longest coastline in Africa! Now does that make sense? Is ondo coastline longer than that of Togo or Benin republic talk more of bigger countries like Ghana, Ivory coast, Senegal, Cameroun, South Africa, Congo, Angola, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Cape Verde, Libya, Kenya, Tanzania and several other African countries? You guys can continue showing the world how stvpid and ignorant you are. SMH.
