Police prosecutor, Esther Adesulu, informed the court in charge No: J/38/2017 that the accused committed the alleged offence between 1 April and 31 May, 2017 at Shoprite Stores, Eti-Osa, during working hours.

Adesulu told the court that the accused betrayed the trust reposed in her as a sales girl by her employer and stole the sum of N535, 956,000 she realized from sales instead of remitting the money into her employer’s account.

She said the management at Shoprite Stores uncovered the fraud when they audited the account.

Adesulu said the offence the accused committed were punishable under section 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015

how come her supervisor could not detect the fraud for such a long period?
what's her sales record status compared to fellow sales personnel working during the same shifts as hers?
so many unanswered questions.

According to reports, a sales girl with Shoprite stores, Mariam Mufutau, has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N553,956,000 she realized from sales just one month after she was employed.

Do they even have 500million worth of goods in just a single shoprite?

Is she the only sales girl there that she was able single handedly steal 500million in just 1 month?

Do they even sell upto 500million in one shoprite a month?

And why would judge grant 300k bail for 500million theft?

No reconciliation of accounts?
No taking of inventories?

Dont they have line managers to account for products? And reconcile with accounts?

Are cameras not available to watch cashiers desk?

How does she key in pos receipts in cash machine to print out purchase receipt for customers?

If a 100,000,000 worth of goods is missing, would the aisle not be empty enough to notice restock? Talk more of N500,000,000...

Well from all analysis, if the op had claimed a regular store, it would have been believeable.. dont trust the story.
