BACKGROUND:
Bioresouces Development Centre (BIODEC) was established by the National Biotechnology Development Agency, Nigeria to fast-track the promotion of biotechnology activities towards attaining sustainable exploitation through indigenous bio-prospecting of the nation's huge bioresources endowment.

I took an excursion to Odi centre of BIODEC previous week to learn more on modern ways of Agricultural practice, trip that worth it. I got to understand the reason countries like Malaysia and Indonesia had left us behind in Agriculture despite learning from us. It’s non other than research and technology, government do not invest in research, we only enjoy copying forgetting that those countries will only release their research materials years after discovery. Through a single plant of plantain you can produce million, the same applies to your Maize/Corn and so on, this is what research as help us achieved. The difference between plant propagation you know and that of the BIODEC is the advanced technology involved to determine the plant adaptability internalized in the plant behavior and make it impossible for the plant to change behavior even in a strange land.
