Happy Sunday NLanders, i'd be needing opinions for my nephew. He brought a situation forward to me last night but i've been unable to reach a conclusion or let me say my conclusion isn't concrete enough. He scored 274 in Jamb and wants to study Computer Engineering at Unilag but his problem lies with his WAEC result. The subject combo for Engineering @Unilag
Maths: B3
Eng: C4
Phy:B3
Chem:C6
F.Maths:C5
after calculating the new quota for screening which was 70pts for previous year and he's on 68.2 but he has B2 in another subject which is Geography and not part of basic requirements. He wants to sub Chem for Geography but he isn't sure if it will be accepted. The advice i gave to him was to change institution but he explained he had reasons for Lag which i found credible. What other options should he explore?

unfortunately, his waec though a good result notwithstanding will it give him a leverage.

having a credit in a subject and aspiring for unilag for a competitive course is a high risk.

na unilag u go see people without credit for their result, u go fear distinctions.

If merit cutoff is 70 then he cn risk it perphaps catchment wil hold him bt if catchmemt is 70 den its a more higher risk to pick comp engr although cut off is likely to increase or reduce by 3mrks depending on the over all performance. bt my candid advice let him change to met n mat where he stand a higher chance he shuld nt waste dat jamb score if he does he will regret it cos gaining admission to univ gets tougher by d years, xcept he writes anoda waec his aggregate is likely to fall within dat range nxt year or even less.

Change course or Change institution to any other FUT sometimes those minors lack quality orientation and counselling, just make him see the future prospect in other courses, not just stick to one direction without opening the mind to other possible and more good options in engineering...


N.B: Northern uni... can offer him d course easily without stress with his grades and scores, so make the choice wisely...

Well, I heard they might change the mode of calculation that is considering all nine subjects, just try to confirm, and if it isn't so, his best bet is to change to systems Engineering
