That's the only way Nigeria can move forward.

Brilliant reply by Prof. Utomi. It is disheartening that Nigerians have no regard for merit and knowledge, which are key to socio-economic prosperity. They will rather prefer to listen to that political thug called Uduaghan and ignore this brilliant and detailed reply from the erudite Professor of Political Economics. No nation achieves rapid development with the kind of mentality Nigerians have. Most developed countries are where they are today, not because they have abundant natural resources but because they have positive attitude and good sense of judjement. This is lacking in this third world country called Nigeria

The prof is mistaking classroom theories of Economics for practical politics.

The baba should concentrate on teaching his theories jare and leave politics for politicians.

A man that can never win his LGA is engaging in political fisticuffs with an ex gov of a whole state.

It is much easier to be a prof than to be elected as a governor in a multi-ethnic country like Nigeria.

Uduaghuan had advised him appropriately, he should go and start from ward level, politics is not about plenty books.
same ppl like u will criticise the president for appointing ministers that aren't specialists in their designated positions.

How have the politicians helped u?

[b]Professor Pat Utomi is a scholar, an academic, an entrepreneur and not-so-successful politician.

His candidacy for the position of governor should never be in question in any serious society but are we serious in Nigeria, nay Delta State?

Uduaghan as my kinsman, I fear to say, is a failed administrator whose legacy cannot be found with an electronic microscope.

To the matter at hand, Patito's gang has shown us that a social critic and seemingly advocate of the masses, sometimes abandons the cause when he faces the opulence of office. Of course, every man is different but that shouldn't deny our circumspection.

Pat Utomi appears to have displayed some candour and enterprise in the interest of the people of delta whilst still a private individual, can the good people of the state see beyond the party and elect a man who has such sterling qualities?

Caveat

Utomi failed by joining in the struggle for Biafra, a stain that would forever haunt his political career in Delta state. I'll be the first to say that.

Uduaghan is a monumental failure all through his 8 years tenure. Little wonder Deltans still sing the praises of Ibori because of developmental strides he recorded while in office.

Delta State needs to be rescued from the shackles of PDP that has mortgage the masses for the past 25 years.
I tell u my brother. delta state still bleeds from the wounds uduaghan n pdp hav done to d state. uduaghan was d worse thing that has ever happened to deltans. the dwarf faced man, looted delta dry n plunged d state into huge debts. he did nothing, imagine d fool wasting money putting double street lights on both sides of a one lane road in warri while abandoning projects that will eliviate d lives of d pple. this man is a shameless hopeless thief. I dnt even care abt his cousin Ibori(d x convict) who's another thief that looted delta state funds until he transferred d lootin to his dwarf faced cousin with bump on his head. they keep praisin ibori while they still suffer frm d misrule of him n his cousin. Indeed Delta state needs to b rescued from d shackles of this demonic pdp rule. pdp is a crime against humanity, I call on apc or any other party to put hands together n rescue deltans out of d evil pdp reign. altho d current gov Okowa is better off than d 2 evil brothers. okowa is actually working if not 4 d fact dat he inherited debts of 100s of billions frm previous administrations yet he was able to host Delta state sports festival, youth developmental programs etc n other programs currently going on in d state. but still we want a CHANGE in delta, any party with different well meaning politicians that aren't pdp. pdp is crime to humanity therefore delta must b saved in 2019.

I think sometimes all we need is to be unsentimental while reading. The prof. has told you his personal effort in bringing investments
into the state and had met with the governor several occasion but as a typical Nigerian politician, he made public show of it and that was all.
He did his part as a Deltan but his effort was down played. But Edo state, a neighbouring state had to gain the benefit of having a man
of international repute like Prof. Utomi as a neighbour.
Prof. Utomi might not be a good Nigerian politician because a lot is need to be one. Reputation and accolades don't win elections
in Nigeria and so it will be a hard rock for Prof. Utomi to crack.
For his grammar, I am sorry the prof cannot condescend because you cannot comprehend the simplest of it all.

[color=#006600]No my brother in a democracy power belong to the people through vote. It is time we start voting for tested integrity and not thugs who share money during election. This mentality is what's killing Nigeria ,you don't vote someone cos you think he won't win

The case of Chief Gani Fawehinmi of blessed memory comes to mind, back then people wanted him, but they didn't vote him just because they thought he wouldn't win, I didn't know how he would win without their votes.......

your last paragraph said it all. Because of his interest in biafra he can never become a governor in delta state.
okowa is just a mess just like uduagha. Even his facial and body expression says it all.

Nigerians can be very stupid. Look at the pathetic and unfortunate responses on this thread. One clown even said Utomi spoke too much grammar and favours Uduaghan's bomb words. But Uduaghan's words are bombs of misfortune.

We deserve the leaders we get on this country. Spits.

Pat Utomi is an overrated he-goat.

You are waiting for government to first tar road for you before your NGO will establish what they came to do? If you are serious, you will first build the youth centre, get it functional and government will then provide you with the amenity.

I'm sure those same people are now regretting and pouring invectives on those they elected including Uduaghan.

There's a saying, "the people deserve the government they get." That statement couldn't be more apt.

It seems you don't know that you need a motorable road to carry out a good construction work. The government doing that would have shown how serious they are

Do you know the logistics and cost involved in siting a structure in a desolate place without even the basic of amenities?

Wouldn't you still call him a failed professor if the programme were to fail as a result?
