Nairaland is a good example of what a Nigerian is capable of, but why do most of us prefer freelancing? Please comment your answers.

Dats a point, but is not being a lone wolf necessary for a successful startup?

I believe that we are scared of failure, we want something we can do and returns are guaranteed.
Nigerian programmers(including me) need to learn to take risks, permit me to use Seun Osewa again as an example; he started a web hosting company then an unsuccessful forum before his breakthrough(Nairaland). Note: it doesn't matter how many times you have failed when you are at the top. Your failures would be your guidelines. Thanks for reading, this is just my opinion.

Using me as an example.

Most of this IT firms are quack, they want you to do 5-10 persons team of work and still pay you less.

So, freelancing for me is cool, I can strive for more project more knowledge and at the same time monitor every other business or activities I'm into.

Though freelancing has its own disadvantages too, but I just think in Nigeria setting were this employers are selfish/self-centered it 'might' worth it.
