Nigerian Police Releases Emergency Number, Social Media Contact by BrainnewsNg(f): 2:31pm On Jul 29, 2017

By Maureen Ojinaka,

The Enugu State Police Command on Saturday released emergency telephone numbers and social media contact addresses for residents to use to reach the police in their collaboration in the battle against crimes.

The command’s spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu that members of the public should collaborate with the police to sustain the tempo of peace in the state.

“The command’s control room numbers are: 08032003702; 08075390883; 08086671202 and 08098880172 for prompt and necessary action.

“Also, our social media platforms – Facebook: facebook.com/EnuguStatePolice; Twitter: twitter@enugupolice and Email: enugustatepolice@gmail.com,’’ he said.

Amaraizu urged residents of the state to be law abiding by not taking laws into their hands, but endeavour to report any issue regarding threat to peace in their environments to the nearest police station.

“The command is also advising members of the public to report any suspicious person, groups and gathering in their neighbourhoods through the distress call numbers or the social media platforms.

“Members of the public should not tamper with any suspicious object discovered anywhere, either in the farm, house or road, but should report promptly to the nearest police station,’’ he advised.

The spokesman said that the command would continue its partnership with sister security agencies to keep the tempo of crime and criminality at its lowest ebb in the state. (NAN)

Purpose? No be naija police? The masses sabi dem pass IG and the politicians. Nigerian Police needs to be broken apart to city levels, what we have now is just a bunch of people in black clothes asking the masses for money and we all know their superiors get paid from whatever they extort from the masses.

See why we need young people to take over in 2019.. angry angry angry

Other Nations have shortcodes that connect you to an Emergency Center that works 24hrs.

So in an Emergency you just Dial three simple digits and you can get the Police, Fire Department and Medical Response Service.

Here in Nigeria, you need to cram four separate 11-Digit numbers just to call only the Police. Surely that is 4 Mobile Phones for like 10 million Plus people to call Incase of an emergency in Enugu only. So by the time you collect all the 4 (11-digit) numbers for the 36 different States IN Nigeria, your address book go don full..

4 numbers per State × 36 States = 144 Mobile Phone numbers just for the Police.

Let's then say 4 numbers for the Fire Service and another 4 for Ambulance Sevice per State.. That would be;

144 × 3 = 432 numbers for Emergency Services Nationwide. grin grin

Surely we need a harsh and drastic change. There is no excuse for this type of foolishness anymore.

What type of country is this that can't produce 3 digit numbers for emergencies.

Even at that if you call them before they get to you it would be 1hr to 2hrs late or they won't come at all.
