I have a HP 650 laptop running on WIN 10 OS which is works perfectly for me. I make use of the internet like every young person would love to, but the rate at which this laptop consumes data is realy shocking. I make use of softwares Like... Revit, AutoCad , Artlantis, ArchiCad, Microsoft Office, Bluestacks... These are my major Apps installed on my PC. Even when I just turn on the sysem without opening anything, the moment I connect to the internet the data consumption rate is very high. I don turn of plenty autoupdate like wetin my guy tell me, but na still the same thing ...now crying... My small mtn 750 mb no reach me do small Nairaland not even to download 5mb song... ...now i'm confused.... Please is there anyway I can disable some of my applications so that they do not connect to the internet like it is on android devices? Abeg na wetin I go do? Nairaland computer gurus and gurees help. |

I remembered once had an issue of such, I downloaded a network manager software and what it does is to monitor my outbound and inbound traffic with their corresponding url address, I just look for the crazy ones, block it and gbam! my laptop data consumption dropped like Hiroshima. Can't really remember the name of the software cos I formatted my pc some times ago. I'll do u help by getting its name and revert later; though it cost me token but certainly served me well. |

Windows 10 can be very crazy when it comes to that, gone are the days when you can disable or select the kain updates you want installed. Now na by fire by force you must install updates., nobody teach me before I install Windows 7. The network management app too can save you. |

Have u set your connection to metered? If you are using a modem, the procedure to turn off updates on win10 is not direct. Subsequently, as someone suggested, install an app to monitor programs. |

1) Set your connection to metered 2) Turn off Microsoft Office update and back up 3) Turn off automatic apps update in Window store |
