OP is very wicked to suggest Quarrying business to anyone.
Gone are the days of it's profitability.

Quarries are shutting down despite the abundance of marble, granite, dolomite, kaolin, calcium and feldspar
No productions,
No electricity.
Fulani Kidnappers keep kidnapping workers.
No FX to even import machineries or parts to repair your crushers and mill.
To raise Form M in the average commercial bank na World Cup.

From Okpella, to Ikpeshi,
From Ihievbe to Obajana
From Lokpanta to Ishieke,
From Iyuku to Ifon
From Owo to Emure-Ekiti
From Nkalagu to Ajaokuta...

The solid mineral industries are suffering!
Even Freedom Group and Petra Quarries are finding it difficult let alone small quarries.

The Chinese have further killed the market by their far reduced product prices due to their cheap machineries and ready professional labour.

If you have such money and you want to invest it.
Just float a strip club....then thank me later.
You are wrong my friend

So it took a Ghanaian minister for them to realise that they have to do this?

Useless country.

I feel your pain.
But trust me when I say it's a good business depends on where and how you run it.
I have been minning mineral rocks for 4 years now and no regrets.

Definitely not granite, before you come for my head.
PM me if you are still interested.

You are obviously experienced in the business and everything you stated is very right but it does not outrightly mean nobody can make money from mining.
I have consistently made profits in 4 years of mining.
Depends on your contract and and investments.
Started out with less than 3 million in investment and no regrets

that's what I do... Some people are just running their mouth. Stop saying rubbish, on what you have no idea of. Chinese government has invested billions of dollars in quarry business. Nigeria government is lacking behind in the process.
I am a bona fide granite supplier, don't let our government deceive you... it's just a way of embezzlement. They're trying to deceive us.
Nigeria government is wicked and has no plan... All they know is how to embezzle our money.
for instance:-
(1) Chinese are into the business already.
(2) Chinese has upper hand in the market than Nigerians. because some Nigerians owned quarry but they can not maintain it.
(3) Chinese only used Nigerians as casual workers.

You just nailed it. My Dad had to sell his crushers at a very cheaper rates when BEDC frustrated the business. I'm from Okpella and I know how profitable stone business was in those days.

Good one, this government is working hard to unleash Nigeria's economic potential.

We all should be looking at taking advantage while the going is good. Otherwise, foreigners will still come and dominate this sector too.

exactly, the Chinese are wetting their mouth to this news now. the main things that the Nigeria govt should a quota system which favour Nigerian citizens towards natural resource investment allocation. it's just a good way to economically empower nigerians.

thought mining equipment ran on diesel

How do you source raw materials when you refused to include Wagon drill and accessories, Air compressor, Exploder, charging materials in your production line? Remember you need jackhammer, RB, for your boulders even if you are mining in bench. I prefer mobile crushers to building ram with heavy gape, cone crushers and conveyor belts.
