Justin Gatlin won his second world 100m title 12 years after his first to ruin eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt’s final individual race.
Bolt, who retires after next week’s 4x100m relay, was third behind American Gatlin, who clocked 9.92 seconds, and Christian Coleman (9.94).
Bolt’s 9.95 seconds equalled his best effort of 2017 but he always trailed.
Gatlin – banned twice for doping – was booed before the race and celebrated wildly, holding his hands to his ears.
The 35-year-old – in lane eight – was behind his compatriot Coleman from the blocks but wore down the margin in the closing 20 metres to take his first major title since 2005.
Great Britain’s Reece Prescod – who qualified for his first major final with an impressive time of 10.05 in the semi-final – finished seventh in 10.17.
The 30-year-old Jamaican had been given a scare ahead of his last ever individual major championship appearance, with American Christian Coleman beating him into second place in the semi-finals.

And Bolt was unable to raise his level for the final, finishing third as 35-year-old Gatlin produced a season’s best to claim victory in London.
The result is likely to be a remarkable final victory for Gatlin, who has played second-fiddle to Bolt for much of his career.
The 2004 Olympic Champion has twice been banned from the sport for doping offences, once in 2001 and again in 2006, but has long protested his innocence.
Bolt will now be hoping that the 4x100m relay will give him a chance to bow out with a gold medal around his neck.

Fifth – Akani Simbine 10.01s

What has pride got to do with anything?? If u watched d races right from d heats u'll have seen he struggled all thru.. He almost lost d semi final to Coleman before recovering at d tail end of d race.. He even recovered quite well in d final to finish 3rd considering he started terribly and was way back at some point... He clearly saw d signs which was why he decided to retire...
