A young man who forged the NYSC call-up letter and went to participate in the orientation camp in Akwa Ibom has been arrested.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a fake Youth Corps member, Justice Orlu Ordu, at the National Youth Service Corps [NYSC] orientation camp in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of the state.

Punch reports that Ordu, a native of Ikwere Local Government Area of Rivers State, was arrested in one of the camp's hostels for allegedly forging an NYSC call up letter which he presented to the authorities before he was allowed to participate in the programme.

It was gathered that Ordu had forged his call up letter and claimed to be an Architecture graduate from the University of Uyo.

The State Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu, who confirmed the arrest of Ordu in a statement, said he was nabbed based on intelligence report received by policemen at the orientation camp.

“Based on intelligence received by our policemen at the orientation camp, officers swung into action and arrested one Mr. Justice Orlu Ordu, an indigene of Ikwere in Rivers State, in Monday Uko’s Hostel in the orientation camp.

On interrogation, Ordu admitted to being a fake Corps member who forged NYSC call-up letter claiming to have graduated from University of Uyo’s  Department of Architecture.He will be charged to court at the conclusion of an investigation,” DSP Ikechukwu said.

He added that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Zubairu Muazu, had assured members of the public that the command had put in place an intelligence-led policing in efforts to reduce crime in the state.

The 2017 Batch A stream II Corps members posted to the state and who reported to camp on July 26 were 1,986.
