Young Farmers Intl Club Nigeria Sues For Peace by btvnigeria(m): 12:45pm On Aug 12, 2017
Press Statement! The National President of the "Young Farmers International Club" Nigeria 'YFICN' sends a Congratulatory Message to all Nigeria youths as we celebrate the 2017 United Nations International Youth Day!!!
The theme of International Youth Day 2017 is Youth Building Peace. Barry Avotu Johnson 1st disclosed that
since the adoption of Security Council Resolution 2250 in 2015, there is a growing recognition that as agents of change, young people are critical actors in conflict prevention and sustaining peace. The International Youth Day 2017 is dedicated to celebrating young people’s contributions to conflict prevention and transformation as well as inclusion of social justice, and sustainable peace.
The current generation of youths are the largest in history and young people often comprise the majority in countries marked by armed conflict or unrest, therefore considering the needs and aspirations of youths in matters of peace and security is a demographic imperative.
Another Security Council Resolution, Resolution 2282 of (2016) recognises that the scale and challenges of sustaining peace requires partnerships between stakeholders, including youth organisations. It also reaffirms the important role youths can play in Nigeria and other nations in deterring and resolving conflicts, and are key constituents in ensuring the success of both peacekeeping and peace building efforts.
The in United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development committed to fostering peaceful and inclusive societies and affirmed that “sustainable development cannot be realised without peace and security”. The Goal 16 project of the UN also aims to ensure responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels. The World Programme of Action for Youths, which provides a policy framework and practical guidelines to improve the situation of young people in farming and other professions, also encourages “promoting the active involvement of Nigerians youths in maintaining peace and security across the nation”.
Young people’s inclusion in the peace and security agenda and in society more broadly, is key to building and sustaining peace in terrorism craved areas in Nigeria such as the north east. The process of social inclusion for youths, including participation in decision-making as well as access to quality education, health care, agriculture practices and other basic services promotes their role as active contributors to society and affords young people with opportunities to reach their potential, create employment and achieve their goals. When youths are excluded from political, economic and social spheres and other development processes, it can be a risk factor for violence and violent forms of conflict. Therefore, identifying and addressing the social exclusion of young people is a precondition for sustaining peace in Nigeria. And in this note we the yficn federal executive council have worked out a national formula to create 37 million jobs for Nigerian youths across the nation. We are calling on all the 36 state governors and the minister of the fct to collaborate with the yficn in bringing the employment problem in Nigeria to its barest minimum level, which shall raise the standard of living in Nigeria by 2019 when nigeria will be entering another electioneering year to vote a new president for nigeria. We also use this opportunity to add our voice to the request for a restructured nigeria where the respect for the rule of law is taken into positive considerations. And also we state herein that the yficn is ready to participate in the 2019 general elections in Nigeria because the 2019 presidential election will play a very important role in uniting the nation's that have made up the nigerian nation. We finally call on all youths across nigeria to get ready to be employed in the fort coming yficn employment scheme. Just go and register yourself as a yficn member in your state via our official website and as soon as the job interview is kicking off you can be invited as qualified candidate [truncated by WhatsApp]
