It's a sad moment for family and friends of Mr. Nnamdi Obasi, the second son of Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof Adaobi Obasi who died early on Sunday (yesterday) of complications arising from a recent surgery conducted by a hospital in Owerri, Imo state capital. The father of one who got married less than two years ago, was reportedly seen full of life during the inauguration / lunching of Elfreeda Foundation recently in Imo State.

His friends have taken to their Facebook walls to mourn the deceased. May his soul rest in peace.

Doctors are like aeroplanes,thousands of successful flights,no mention.But one crash,its viral news.
Thousands of surgeries are carried out daily in Nigeria sometimes under d worst possible conditions like using a phone torchlight to aid vision in a govt teaching hospital but d doctors hardly get a commendation.

Rest in peace the vc would now see reasons why he should have flown his son abroad Nigeria is a failed country

An appendix operation which can be successfully carried out by a fourth year medical student.

A university teaching hospital established by fore-sighted leaders in Imo state remains diminished, uncompleted, because some very very parochial group in Imo state believes that every development project in Imo state must be located in the state capital.

Gov. Okorocha helped them in running down the teaching hospital in Orlu because of his private business.

Our half baked medical doctors from Nigerian Universities killing Nigerians like tomorrow no dey.

Half baked doctors everywhere with a certificate and licence to kill - Known for giving wrong diagnosis and operating on you even when there is no need.

There is even no end yet for the 'production' of more half baked - ASUU is now on indefinite strike. There was indeed a country.

Give me my Biafra, this Nigeria has been grossly mismanaged.

Meanwhile RIP to the dead but may your death not be in vein. May it push your father to think and do things differently.

He was scared of doing the surgery in Nigeria,so the logical question is why didn't he travel abroad if it was the capacity of the Nigerian hospital he was so scared about,if his version of the story is to be believed.
He simply didn't want to be put under the knife anywhere and left it too late,likely ruptured appendix which carries a high mortality rate even in the best of hands.
Or else this was a manufactured tale of events by those who not in position to find out the truth have simply regaled the public with the narrative that would deflect blame from the family to the standard Nigerian fallback guy,the Nigerian dr and hospital.

Sad story, but why would someone with appendicitis not go for immediate treatment?

An appendectomy is a routine operation. Risk of complication is very minimal if a competent doctor is in charge. And this operation is well within the capability of even relatively inexperienced Nigerian doctors.

What 'upgrade' is needed to handle a simple appendectomy that most Nigerian doctors can pull off with ease?

The surgery was supposed to be conducted on Friday but he postponed it or was postponed because he had to attend the elfreeda foundation program organised by rochas daughter, also the wife was the manager of the place. He was even in cubana club that same Friday night partying, only for him to go for the surgery and lost lots of blood. He came out successfully but that complaining of pains, he was later rushed back to the hospital but he couldn't come out alive.

THESE AND MANY OTHER REASONS MADE MR BUHARI REFUSE MEDICAL TREATMENT IN NIGERIAN HOSPITALS.
