An Ogun State couple, Mr Nasiru Adeyemo and his wife, Idayat, has been detained by men of the Ogun State Police Command for attempting to use their 7-year-old daughter, Abibat for ritual purpose.The child is Idayat's stepdaughter.


Tribune Online reports the couple was taken into custody following a distress call from members of the public following the sighting of a loaded sack by the roadside at Asabala area, Papalanto/Sagamu road.


The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a press statement said that the information received prompted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Owode Egba Division, CSP Shehu Alao, and his men to the scene.At the scene, they found and untied a white rice sack.



Shockingly, the 7-year-old girl was with a finger in her right hand cut off was found inside the sack, tied.

Luckily, she was alive and taken to the hospital for treatment.



When she became conscious, the little girl told the police that her father and stepmother were responsible for her missing finger before tying her up and loading her inside the sack, and then dumped her by the roadside.
