Leader of the Northern Union, Dr. Olusola Saraki, yesterday advised Acting Presi-dent Goodluck Jonathan not to listen to calls by some Nigerians to dissolve the Executive Council of the Federation (ECOF), stating that it is too early in the day to do so.
Saraki, who spoke in Abuja, after the elders council meeting of the Northern Union, said Jonathan should continue to act in office as long as President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua is alive, because there is no limit to how long he should act.

He said, “there is no need to dissolve the FEC. The changes so far made is enough. In our meeting, we discussed that and concluded that it is too early in the day to dissolve the Federal Executive Council. There is indeed no need for that, because this is still the same government.

He, however, handed down a 10-point agenda of things the Acting President should do for Nigerians. According to him, they include, an immediate conclusion of electoral democracy, which he described as the heart of democracy.

Others are implementation of the post amnesty programme, a decisive action on the power sector, completion of the dredging of the River Niger, accent to the bill for formation of the hydro-electric power producing area commission, strenghtening of the anti-corruption agencies like the ICPC and the EFCC among others. He also commended the National Assembly for passing the resolution making Jonathan the Acting President.
