The truth about this is that. I don't see the difference between a fellow who went to State/Federal unis and a pal who graduated from these highly expensive unis TBH. I am not saying this just because i went to a fed uni, but speaking from my academic experiences with guys coming from these costly privates, i do discover that most of these guys are not better than me. Even the few of them who were great academically were not rivalling me in terms of academic/mental tasks. Even in my NYSC- i was head and shoulders ahead of many corpers in terms of social skills, intelligent reasonings, brainstorming, smartness, good English usages, just to mention a few. I am not against peeps going to the privates o. But i think that going to a non private ( apart from delays due to strikes) doesn't mean you are an inferior grad. It all depends on your personality, dedication/commitment to your studies and hardwork. That's my view

Upon Godfrey Okoye university school fees Is cheap,they still give students more quality education,moral values ,ethics and good accomodation. They make use of mostly strong and vibrant professors. My sister and brother finished from there and my parents really saw good changes in them. Money is not everything,good education is.

Lol, there's a protection clause that backs all private universities, if a private university cannot run itself anymore it will be taken over by the government(AMCON), thats why they pay a huge premium to the government in form of tax.

One wouldn't want to go to a school that would crash 5 yrs later after someone has graduated. U go explain to employer tire

I know about Lithuania with their cheap tuition
But what I'm tring to say is
Ask your friend if he will be able to get a Job after studies(that's the bottom line)
Not to get that degree and come back to nigeria and still struggle with home based graduates

I concur with your fears. Only very rich individuals and viable institutions should be establishing universities. If you're establishing a university to make money you will cry at the end. I wouldn't be surprised if they start to merge some of these schools together. I'm not a fan of getting your first degree outside Nigeria. You can get masters abroad but first degree should be in Nigeria, irrespective of the money I have. Just my take though.

You're smart. I don't discriminate against anybody on such flimsy criteria. But the truth is that a lot of graduates from Govt-owned schools try to belittle private school graduates. It's even more common. In the end it's about the value you add to society as a result of your education or skill.

Covenant is just a 15 yr old university! It would be an astounding success for CU to rise over 21,000 higher institutions in the world to make top 1000(top 5%) in such a short while without having additional funding from government. The vast majority of universities in top 1000 are very old. Even the very old UI could only make it in for the first Time in it's existence last year or so. While the likes of UNN and OAU have never been ranked. However, covenant is on d verge of qualifying for consideration for 2018 top 1000 rankings so watch out for Covenant on September 5, 2017 when THE unveils the new top 1000 in London
