It was a day of tears and mourning for commercial bus drivers and residents of Upper Sakponba community near Benin, the Edo state capital‎, as nine persons lost their lives yesterday in a ghastly motor accident.

‎The ugly incident which occurred at about 6 am involved. a tipper and a commercial bus driver along Upper Sokponba road near Oka market in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of the state.

The sudden tragedy had immediately sparked outrage and subsequent protest by aggrieved residents, families of the dead, friends and hundreds of commercial drivers plying the road.

New Telegraph findings showed that all the occupants of the commercial bus with registration number BEN 435 ZN, died in the carnage.

Our Correspondent gathered that six of the passengers including a pregnant woman had died at the scene while three others gave up the ghost few minutes after they were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Eye witnesses account disclosed that the tipper on top speed lost control and in the process rammed into the upcoming moments it parked to pick an additional passenger along the route.
