UNPRODUCTIVE NATURE OF DR. CHRIS NGIGE AND ITS NEGATIVE EFFECTS TO NIGERIA DEVELOPMENT- A Call For His Removal…

Democracy as a government of majority requires capable and vibrant hands to Administer, in developed states, the inability to involve diligent and devoted technocrats into government Ministries, Agencies and Parastals leads to Administrative downfall and loss of Governmental legitimacy. In 2015 after the swearing in of newly appointed Ministers and signing ministerial portfolios, one of the Ministers nominated by the president from Anambra state was Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige. This unproductive, low voice and underperformed ex- senator in the 7th Senate was chosen based on loyalty and recommendations not by performance antecedents as a Minister for labour and productivity.

Consequently, as the nomenclature sounds the, opposite was in the reality. A minister who is supposed to be productive in labour related issues from inception turns to display high level of Administrative ineptitude and undiluted mediocrity which resulted to many stake holders in the presidency pointing accusing finger on him for non-performance and lack of ideas in discharging his duties. Ngige who was labelled as the worst Senator of the 2014 for his penchant in lying low in National issues in the Senate with non-visible constituency projects in his senatorial
zone replicates same unproductive dexterity in the cabinet as Hon. Minister For labour and productive. It is on record to note that since his assumption as a minister for labour and productive the working condition of workers in the country has drastically reduced and abashed. The NLC as an umbrella in 2016 called for immediate removal of Dr. Ngige without prejudice ranging from his ineptitude, cunning and incapacitation in office.

Recently, the Academics Union Of Universities ( ASUU) embark on indefinite strike to press in their demands from federal Government, as a Minister For Labour and productive, all eyes were on Ngige to amicably settle and resolve the issues with ASUU in order to prevent a repetition of 2013 ASUU strike in the country. However, Ngige as unarticulated minister could not sworn into action they by allowing the union to abruptly close all public universities in Nigeria for academics related activities indefinite. This ugly negligence of duty has caused more harm in the country and the APC led federal government, a minister who supposed to protect and represents the Federal government went AWOL in duty performance. Furthermore, the sister body of ASUU ( NASUU) is treating to embark on industrial action this week as a result of the same negligence and unproductivity of Ngige. The issue of minimum wage increase and restructure has been a threading issue between Nigeria workers and Federal government which the labour union expected Dr. Ngige to take the agitation to the government but up till now the issue is said to be in moribund stage with lots of misunderstandings.

It is on this note of incapacitation and unproductivity that we are calling the Federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to hear the cacophony of voices calling for the immediate removal of Hon. Minister of Labour and Productivity Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige because he is a disgrace to the federal government and a big slap to Anambrian as a result of his non-performing nature.
