This anchor sef. He gave the force PPRO too much time to state the same thing over and over again. I hate it when issues of immense importance come up and time decides to play the bitch. Must the TV stations always go live with everything? Why couldn't they do a recorded version and put it on the Internet for people to see. With that at least, time wouldn't be a constraint and every party would get the chance to say whatever they have to say with enough clarity. I felt the senator had so much to say but was constrained by the little time he had and his lack of oratory skills. His closing remarks though... "I think the police authorities are confused, because just two weeks ago the IG bought ticket for me to be on his delegation to Morocco". Haha! Yet they call the man a deserter. Very confused set of people. They chose to attack his person in other to discredit his criticism. The PPRO is a sworn enemy of himself. He needs proof for everything. He even needs it to believe that his sons weren't fathered by his former landlord. The onus lies on his wife. Not Nigerians.

On the closing note: So IGP bought flight tickets for a 'deserter' to attend a Police event in Morocco just 2 weeks ago?
The Force PRO spent his time attacking the messenger and not the message angry

Well, the senator may have question to answer himself, but the NPF is shameless. the PPRO is frankly clueless and deceitful. read people's comments and see that on the average N15,000 is paid per police escort daily. and He (PPRO) is blatantly denying.

Does the presenter have to look far. His company and studios are probably guarded by the same police. All he needs to do is to go upstairs to his accounts department and find the facts, simple. But my guess is that Lai Mohd has paid them a courtesy call/ solidarity visit and they will not want to put governent in bad light in anyway. Shame.

Let the truth be told, the police collect money from Banks and big firms for providing police protection. Shikena!

I am so dissapointed in the moderator, what Nigerians needed to know is about the rot in the Police and not the travail of one man. It's common knowledge that policemen deployed to banks collect weekly allowances.

At the last floor of Kam Salem Obalende Lagos is a Yoruba boy ,yellow in complexion and has been glued to the same seat underperforming as PA to the OC of the FIB , he is into all manners of dirty job from debts to anything . If you report any case of debts or fraud ,the guy will deduct 10% as police charges . He told a friend of mine that the police normally charge 50k per Mopol for any outing apart from the admin charges and other under the table bribe. That was before the coming of this IG of police . I am not sure if the reform has touched that area .
But in other formations I have not established that .

I don't see anything bad in getting companies to pay for the use of security operatives. They are into the business to make profit ,the profit is not coming into the coffee of government except the meagre tax and companies will even cheat in the declaration of tax returns .
The mistake we are making is that security is in short supply and the area has been overstressed with all sorts of requests and need. In the develop countries most of the request taken to the police are handle by Private Investigator.

When someone is declared missing ,you will commit tens of armed guards and vehicles on search mission . All this are handled by Private sectors operatives and you pay for their services.

Securing an event as well as providing security for the corporate executive is the work of Executive Protection Services and you pay heavily ,thus freeing up the regular police to attend to more national issues.
Nothing bad in paying for security if it goes to the Government coffer, but the police should always direct person issues or investigation and security to the private investigator to ease the burden .

Which burden??
Who told you the NPF is over stressed? they hardly do any work aside setting up road blocks and extorting money left, right and center.
and besides, are there private investigators in Nigeria??

The part I don't understand is why corporations won't come to say this truth so the financial burden on them would be alleviated.

However, is it not nigeria, they would rather the force men bribes than pay the huge charges that would be meted on them by the FG should FG consider to make this a revenue option.

Ogbeni, firstly I never said police don't deserve extra rewards or commendation.

We all deserve extra rewards in our works of life.
Even the woman that fries Akara in your Junction deserves extra rewards

I don't really know about you, but my work is very delicate and hazardous, any little mistake will spell doom for me and the Public.

I'm not also a normal citizen, I don't relax at home or work in a very friendly environment.
I work in an environment where people die daily/weekly, I see tears, depression and frustration on a regular basis, but I'm not whining about it, that's the life I choose.

Policemen choose to also put their lifes on the line, the weren't FORCED, that's the Job description.

Anytime, the are not comfortable with this or the feel the are not getting enough REWARDS, they can either request for more through engagements with the Government (which the did before) or better still they can resign and go find work in more lucrative environments like Shell, Chevron etc

Emotional blackmail don't work on me, nobody work easy.
Dr Stella Ameyo Adadavoh died in the course of protecting Citizens of Nigeria from Ebola.

I work in a very similar situation, I put my life in the line too..
I must not carry Ak-47 to do that undecided

I even work more than most Nigerian Policemen, I studied more, I trained more, Infact, I deserve more than them.... And I earn more than most of them legally
wink

That is the point. You may say your work is hazardous, and yes i would agree with you but the point is generally doctors are well remunerated for their services. My dad is one, and he employs others so i can speak with some authority here.

The level of risk is also vastly different. Medical risks can and should be mitigated by following basic precautions. In police work, once you have that uniform on, you become an automatic target for instant death.

Part of the problem is that most civilians do not know what is legal and illegal. It is perfectly legal for a policeman seconded to a bank to collect an allowance from them, while the bank should also pay for their services.

Watch as the Nigerian police PRO and Senator Misau Fight it out with words On IG of police alleged Corruption.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Chtxxdbsoic

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has been accused of extorting money, ranging from N10m to N15m, from Commissioners of Police, State Mobile Commanders and Special Protection Units (SPU) Commanders, for favorable postings.

IGP Idris also allegedly makes N10bn monthly from oil companies and other private individuals who enjoy special protection from the security agency.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Isah Hamma Misau, made these revelations on Friday, while addressing National Assembly Correspondents.

Misau said the level of corruption being perpetrated by the current Inspector-General of Police and the Chairman, Police Service Commission, IGP Mike Okiro (Rtd.), was so alarming and capable of undermining the anti-corruption stance of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“While the Police Service Commission could not deny the bribery allegation, information reaching me indicate that, even transfers of Commissioners of Police, State Mobile Commanders and SPU Commanders are also allegedly riddled in corruption.

“Some Commissioners of Police and State Mobile Commanders pay between N10m to N15m to get postings.

I hope the president and the national assembly are monitoring the ongoing show of shame between the police and the senator. The leadership of the police force have always complained of poor funding. This could be an opportunity to start using police internally generated revenue to fund the activities of the force. Government should immediately legalize the payment of specified amount of money by companies and individuals that require special protection. If the IGP can be generating up to N10billion from the back charges, government can take over and put the funds to good use.legal action my fut,hu has been arrested n jailed so far?

And if government refuse to act and take over, the corruption will continue no matter who is the president or IGP. The loophole is there to always be exploited by the police leadership and the only solution is for government to take it over legally.

Google the manpower of the entire Police force and do statistical analysis viz a viz the population . Take note of the number of policemen with the political office holders ,corporate world ,the offices and the remaining for the public.

Secondly there are private investigators in Nigeria ,even handling international assignment . The only issue is that they don't advertise for security reason on account of the sensitivity of their job, they only operate by referral. If you need you can get .Some handle and package assignment for the police after investigation. Go to LinkedIn and do the checking .

The massive corruption in the Nigeria police can better be imagined, if only Buhari can take a noose on them, the IG run a ring of organized corruption, ranging from illegal deduction of their staff salary, various officers are paid differently according to their commands, the Commissioner of police in each state deduct huge amount of money from their payment system, they in turn remit to the IG.
That is why they are doing everything possible to frustrate their enrollment into IPPIS payments platform of the government. Their staffs are hopelessly treated, promotions are given to the highest bidder. Such is a sordid state of an important organization that suppose to be an eye in the fight against corruption.
Re: Misau: IG Of Police N10Billion Monthly Bribe Allegation Debated On Channels TV by Vuvuzela101: 1:59pm On Aug 29, 2017
Banks pay 2 mopols attached to them N33,000 weekly in portharcourt. This is verifiable as its paid into the account of one of the officers who in turn credit the office and the other member. These are illegal collection apart from their salaries. This is paid every Friday from security expense account. Why is the ppro claiming not to know.
