THE CATASTROPHIC ROCHAS

“There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to accept what is true”- Soren Kierkegaard.

“It is not a shame to be deceived; but it is to stay in the deception” -anonymous.

Rochas, like his Abuja ‘god’, came into power when the masses were unfortunately deceived into believing in a phantom change.

In Imo State, the then governor, Ikedi Ohakim, did not do so badly, he was a more calculative, reasonable, organized, proactive and focused governor. However, his greatest undoing was pride and arrogance. And he paid dearly for that. The rest is now history.

By then, Rochas was known by the masses as a philanthropist who loved and cared for the poor masses. The Rochas foundation and his leadership of the Nigerian Red Cross Association supported this claim. However, the few who knew him better warned us about his devilishness, wickedness, criminality(419ner) and even membership of a secret cult that feeds on human blood.

Nevertheless, because the Imo people were fed up with the arrogance of Ikedi Ohakim and his purported flogging of a Rev.Fr.(actually there was an incident, but not flogging of a Rev. Fr., which the opposition used as a strong propaganda to score political point), Ikedi was dethroned. And the only strong alternative was the ‘philanthropic Rochas'. Riding on the back of the then popular Igbo party(APGA), which was sold to him by our own Martin Agbaso, snatching victory from the incumbent was easier.(First deception).

During his first term in office, people decoded Rochas’ deception, greed and wickedness, and badly wanted a change. However, his kinsman from Orlu Zone(Orlu zone has the highest number of LGAs in Imo State) and few greedy Owerri and Okigwe elders(likes of Chief Bob Njemanze and Ararume), coupled with disorganized & dismembered opposition and the tsunami at the already concluded presidential election, Rochas found his way back to Douglas house. “My people, my people”, “Job, job, job”, “Industry, industry, industry”. ( Second deception).

Today, Imo State is in a very sorry state.

-highest number of uncompleted projects

- one of the most heavily indebted states in the country(future of our children has been mortgaged)

-many months of unpaid salaries

-pensioners not paid and intimidated to sign off 60% of their earned pension(what callousness!)

-immotorable roads

-high rate of unemployment

-high rate of crime, kidnapping and armed robbery

-no good healthcare system (his 27 uncompleted hospitals which he used to siphon LG funds in the 27 LGAs are now welcome habitat for Aso rock rats), -etc, etc ....

Rather, the only thing that is thriving in Imo State today is Rochas, his family, in-laws, relatives and cronies. Imo State has been turned into his personal fiefdom.

-all political appointments both at federal and state levels are for himself, family members and few outsiders that are used as mere fronts.

- his family estate at Spibat will even scandalize a Saudi Arabian prince

- his private university at his home town

-all lands in Owerri town and environ have been cornered by his family and cronies

-on top of his Rochas foundation, we now have Elfreeda foundation by his daughter, Elfreeda shop and Elfreeda everything

-a state owned diagnostic centre named after his unknown father ‘ochiedike' and many other state projects named after his wife and children

-and strong rumours have it that he is positioning his son in-law to succeed him as the governor.

Haha! Rochas, nah only you and family waka come?

Since last night, the social media have been awash with his demolition of Eke Ukwu main market Douglas rd, Owerri. It could be a laudable project if properly done with human face and in consideration of the people’s plight.

But the nagging questions are: what ready alternative arrangements have been made to accommodate the dislodged traders? At the rate of uncompleted projects in the state, why has this become a priority at this most difficult times? How will the thousands of families that depend for their livelihood on this market survive after this demolition? And how soon will they be resettled and what compensation to cushion the effect of the resettlement?

Rochas surely enjoys seeing the tears of Imo people. By this demolition he is directly unleashing more hunger and anger in the state and an attendant increase in crime rate.

Yet our people are complacent as if he has caste a spell on us all. Our leaders in Nigeria take us for granted because they are too sure that we make just noise and after that everyone goes back home sulking and minding their businesses.

Actually, Rochas is a catastrophe to Imo State.

Point of correction: please remove Orlu from Rochas Okorocha's kinsmen.

Rochas is from Ideato South Lga.

Orlu suffers most from Okorocha's tricks. After deceiving Orlu lga in 2011 and scored highest number of votes in Orlu lga, all Okorocha did in Orlu is dualize a total of about 5km of urban roads and a two block school of hygiene. He even dismantled the roofs of Orlu stadium, the flood lights and seats of the stadium rot away;, he ran down the teaching hospital in Orlu and planned to relocate the hospital to Owerri, his new hometown.
