*Topic:* GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
*Read:* Deuteronomy 1:5-8

*MEMORISE:* _The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: 'You have dwelt long enough at this mountain.'_ *(Deuteronomy 1:6)*

*EXPOSITION*
Giving it a straight forward definition, *comfort zone* is a situation in which you feel comfortable and you think you do not have to do anything new or difficult again. Comfort zone is also described as a behavioural space, where your activities and behaviours fit a routine and pattern that minimises stress and risk. According to one theory, the term comfort zone originated in reference to the temperature zone (67 to 78 degrees), where we are most comfortable, and feel neither hot nor cold. Comfort zone is the place we are most at home.

Getting out of your comfort zone entails doing whatever it is that makes you uncomfortable. This means doing things that you resist, hate or even fear. After the children of Israel left Egypt as a nation, they marched to Mount Sinai, and there, the Lord revealed Himself in power and great glory. The Lord had them tarry so long at Sinai, because He wanted to give them His law and teach them how to worship. Having known that wars and dangers laid before them, the people had been satisfied to stay at Mount Sinai. They felt comfortable in this place, having been there for long time, and they did not bother to move forward to the real resting place the Lord had for them the Promised Land.

The Lord could not help but order them to move out of the place *(v. 7)*. He also encouraged them to move forward, by telling them that He had given the land of Canaan, for them to possess *(v. cool*. Many children of God are satisfied with the present stage of their spiritual lives. They do not bother to stress themselves in the things of the Spirit. Can you recognise your own comfort zone? What do you think you can be, and you have not become? What do you think you can do, and you have not done? You can now take a step out of your comfort zone to be all you can be, to do all you can do, and to reach everywhere you can reach, in line with Gods purpose in His Word.

*PRAYER POINTS*
*1.* Lord, give me courage to step out of my comfort zone to the next level of my life.
*2.* Oh Lord, give me victory over the spirit of complacency, which is the enemy of progress. *3.* Lord, give our church leaders foresight to see beyond the present state of the church.
