Is Airtel Data Plan A Scam? by naijarazzi: 8:40pm On Sep 11, 2017
Hi guys,

Is it just me or airtel's data finishes quickly.

I switched from mtn to airtel a month ago when I discovered that mtn network isn't too ok at my place, and airtel is working fine. At first, I thought I have been missing out when I discovered that airtel's data plan seems cheaper compared to Mtn's. Airtel offers 5gb for N2.5k, while mtn offers 3.5gb for N2k.

My first subscription, i observed my 5gig data plan had finished within 2 weeks on a phone I have been conveniently using 3.5gb mtn data in 3 weeks.

Upon renewal of the airtel sub, I tracked data usage on my iPhone, by clearing previous data usage on 'cellular' under 'settings'. Lo and behold, I received a notification from airtel that I have used 75% of my 5gb data at exactly 2 weeks when my iphone data usage had reported 2.5gb.

As it is, I don't even trust all these so called data bonus and cheap subscription.

Did you turn off auto update on apps? This is one of the features that consume data aside background data.Turn auto update app off completely. It is of no use.Though,i know most of these network operators in Nigeria uses cunning means to rip customers off their hard earned money.I use glo #1k monthly sub's for 3.2gb and I don't have issues of my data going drained after I have turned off apps auto update.Even when I download apps and turn off background data my subs doesn't drain.Though, glo data network is epileptic at some point. It depend on your location.

Even if you subscribe for Glo 100mb, you can't finish it in a month because it is perpetually epileptic.
Even with the auto update, the phone reads 2.5gb while the network sent notice of 3.75gb usage (75% of 5gb). That is outright fraud.
