Ever since social media took over the internet, a lot of people have posted lots and lots of junks which have either tarnished their image or have landed them into trouble. I have come to notice that a lot of people now use social media to gain cheap popularity and due to this fact, everyone is striving hard to make sure he comes into limelight by all means.

Here are a few people who landed in jail by just updating their social media account with the wrong status.

1. 19 year old mother

After posting a picture of her 11 months old son smoking a bong pipe on Facebook, 19 year old mother from Jacksonville in Florida was arrested and investigated. Although the investigation revealed that no drug was present in the bong pipe, she was however fined and for drug paraphernalia and an evaluation was conducted on her to ascertain her ability to parent a child.

In July 2011, it was reported that Joseph Bernard Campbell said he would plead guilty to charges of cyberstalking and unauthorized access to a computer. Unluckily for him, at the moment of making that update on his Facebook page, at least 19 women were victimized by a computer hacker who broke into their email accounts, captured risqué photographs of the women and replaced them for the women’s display picture on Facebook.
