5 Things You Need To Know About The New Apple Iphone 8 And Iphone X by randieboy: 11:05am On Sep 13, 2017

Yes, the iPhone X or 10 whatever you want to call it, is a premium edition iPhone that commemorates the 10th year anniversary of the first ever launched iPhone in 2007.

Last year we had to give up our beloved earphone jack on the iPhone 7, and this year, well, we have to deal with iPhone X’s lack of a home button. It is believed that the iPhone X is going to be a game changer for Apple. Till we get our hands on a review unit, here are 5 things you really need to know about the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X.

A. RIP Home Button and FingerPrint Unlock on iPhone X

Apple somehow began killing almost everything we knew about smartphones. First, they took out the earphone jack from the iPhone 7 and this year. And now, Apple says we no longer need a home button to operate or unlock the iPhone X. This means you will not need to use your fingerprints to unlock your phone, rather you will be using your face going forward.

To replace the home button and fingerprint security, the iPhone X has Face ID. This feature uses your face to unlock your phone, similar to Samsung’s IRIS Scanner. Apple claims the Face ID is so accurate that it cannot be confused by different users facial contours and looks. The face recognition feature uses the TrueDepth camera technology allowing it to work even in the dark and powered by A11 Bionic chip.

B. Finally Wireless Charging for iPhone

Asides cutting features we are familiar with, Apple is also finally opening up to our world. Yes, a world where Samsung has shown us the possibilities we can enjoy in a smartphone, such as wireless charging.

Using a full body glass design Apple introduces wireless charging feature to the iPhone. Sadly, in the beginning, it felt like Samsung was the one copying iPhone features, but now all we see is Apple slowly following Samsung’s lead. Anyways, we love the wireless charging.

C. The iPhone 8 and iPhone X Design and Performance

Since the iPhone X’s front has no home button, the whole front face is fully covered in glass. The iPhone X is a 5.8” and is the first Apple phone with OLED display which Apple calls the Super Retina Display. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus also backs these features, alongside Dolby Vison and HDR10 support for crystal clear image and video quality.

With the A11 Bionic chip, and upgrade from iPhone 7 A10 Fusion chip. The new iPhones are powered by a 64-bit super efficient processor with a new Apple-designed graphic unit. The new processor promises about 25 percent speed increase and an extra 2-hours longer battery power compared to the iPhone 7s.

D. Camera and Augmented Reality

We can always trust Apple to come through with great camera functionalities. The iPhone X and iPhone 8s did not fall short of such expectations with a 12MP rear camera and dual optical image stabilization. Features a f/1.8 aperture lens and a telephoto f/2.4 aperture lens. The iPhone 8s and iPhone X packs a 7MP auto image stabilization and exposure control front camera.

Photographers will love the new Natural Lighting effect on the new iPhone 8s. The camera also has an improved 4K video resolution making 60fps possible. Apple also introduced new AR features, taking gaming to another level.
