Goodluck Jonathan Issues A Statement On Recent Developments In Aba, Nigeria by Teacher1776(m): 3:20am On Sep 16, 2017
Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has issued a statement on his Facebook page calling on all parties involved to show "restraints".
DETAILS...

The reports I have received about recent developments in the country lead me to appeal to all men of good will to use whatever influence they have to push for peaceful coexistence and restraint on all sides. Perhaps it is time for the Council of State to intervene and offer its wise counsel.

Irrespective of whatever provocation, Nigerians must never turn on each other. Even in the face of difficult circumstances, we must have faith that God in His infinite wisdom will guide us to finding a way out that is fair and just to all concerned. In as much as there may be a need to enforce order, there is a greater need to reinforce our humanity and treat Nigerian citizens humanely whether they be from the North or South.

Nothing justifies the desecration and destruction of religious places of worship or a police station. But even more so, nothing justifies the endangering of human life. Let us exchange ideas instead of exchanging insults and threats. Nigeria is going through tough times because God wants us to grow through tough times.

We must be resolute as a people even as we know that it is impossible to deny the brotherhood of all Nigerians after over a century of a shared commonwealth. GEJ

As long as Nigeria remains a repressive state, Biafra will forever remain the best alternative

IPOB lives on

IPOB will definitely go underground and reorganize itself and emerge much prepared for a country that refused to dialogue

Nigerians are as gullible as anything.

Under the GEJ administration, Amnesty International provided report after report of human rights abuses. GEJ did nothing but deny these things.

Yet see people suffering from temporary amnesia falling over themselves to swallow this press release.

PS: Note that I don't say Buhari is any better. Both Presidents have provided thoroughly mediocre leadership.

Nah.
Boko Haram could do this because - for the most part - their struggle is ideological and driven by religion.

Niger Delta militants were largely driven by abundant opportunities to bunker oil. Pl us they had their finger on the lifeblood of the nation, giving them massive leverage.

IPOB doesn't have the ability to drastically impair oil exports. The Biafra struggle for many does not run anywhere near as deep as the Boko Haram credo, and they can count on far smaller levels of support.
All they'll succeed in doing is to prevent any sane investor from investing in the region.

It'll be interesting to see where IPOB goes from here...

y was buhari elected then? was it not on his promise of change of the status quo?

but alas, bubu's own turn out to be the worst

i put it to u:the level of human rights abuse we are experienceing now is far more higher than gej own and also since after d civil war

100% incorrect.

The only reason it seems higher to you is because you never gave a damn about the travails of northerners

Bethel, you know the truth. Even your Governors are against BIAFRA and they believe in One Nigeria. I suppose they are the highest unity beggers. I know common sense is not common but Take a clue from your Governors and Learn.

NO TO IPOB. They are Terrorists and the Unity of Nigeria is not Negotiable, not even with Terrorists.

Our president is going for united nations meeting when our streets and states are not united.

Like GEJ proposed, I wonder how many Council of states meeting he has called since he came to office. This issue of thinking you are an island is killing us.

I hope we are not sleeping on gun powder

This man will never change, even when one thinks loosing an election he should have easily won would reset his brain to default, for where, just look at rhetorics, must he even always issue statements on every issues of political interest, and in whose interest?
