I picked up java nd c programming books a few weeks ago nd i think i learnt the basics of computer programming...i am still more like a beginner anyway...i am an electrical and electronics engineering student,so it's not like i want to be an android or web developer...i just want to learn system software development and concepts like machine learning,NLP e.t.c...i also understand that i need some math skills to be successful in these fields...i just need a list of math/computer science books that will help me achieve my goal.Thanks.

you need Linear Algebra, statistics, calculus and convex optimization. does not necessary mean know everything in these subjects. those topic will help understand machine learning. search for machine learning courses in udacity,coursera,edx, YouTube is also a good place.
