That's anencephaly, the brain didnt develop with the rest of the body. It has nothing to do with trying to remove the baby
christejames:
Maybe the mum tried removing the baby at the advanced staged of her pregnancy. Any medic in the house to explain this congenital deformity better?

Those calling the baby monstrous and other bad names are heartless. The baby's brain didn't develop in the womb.
Even though the baby will most likely die, it is still a baby who didn't ask to come to this world. It was even laid on a "plastic bag" so it's body wouldn't touch the bed. sad
The baby is deformed, not a monster or a frog.
It can happen to any body.

It is called ANENCEPHALY

Anencephaly is the absence of a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp that occurs during embryonic development.

It is a cephalic disorder that results from a neural tube defect that occurs when the rostral (head) end of the neural tube fails to close, usually between the 23rd and 26th day following conception.

Strictly speaking, the Greek term translates as "no in-head" (that is, totally lacking the inside part of the head, i.e. the brain), but it is accepted that children born with this disorder usually only lack a telencephalon, the largest part of the brain consisting mainly of the cerebral hemispheres, including the neocortex, which is responsible for cognition.

The remaining structure is usually covered only by a thin layer of membrane— skin, bone, meninges, etc. are all lacking.

With very few exceptions, infants with this disorder do not survive longer than a few hours or possibly days after their birth.

it is recommended that all women of child-bearing age consume 0.4 mg of folic acid daily, especially those attempting to conceive or who may possibly conceive, as this can reduce the risk

Awwww...a clear case of Anencephaly! It's a type of neural tube defect.

If the mother had this baby at an advanced age, and she has other children, she should be counselled to stop child bearing.
If she desires to have more, she will need to take folic acid from now at a higher dose than the recommended daily allowance and should have good prenatal screening as this could be detected on ultrasound.

Women especially women trying to conceive at an old age should take 400micrograms of folic acid daily and take food rich in folic acid to reduce the risk of neural tube defects.

May God comfort this family..

It is indeed that possible that herbal medications can be a causative factor. Any drug that inhibits the folate receptors can lead to anencephaly.
