life2017: I can understand all this but this is not abiut the recreation of the old Bini empire. Bendel Republic makes no sense if people are forced into it against their will. So a referendum is very important. I would say that in the referendum, they should be given the choice of: Nigeria Bendel Biafra The Igbo speaking part of Bendel or the Anioma area must be given a choice to decide which these 3 choices they want. 1 Like 1 Share |

Many of the Aniomas(forget the language factor) can trace their ancestry to Benin so what are all these guys saying? Meanwhile, that region was the epicenter of what I believe holds the world record for the shortest-lived independent State: The Republic of Benin,a puppet State created by Biafra during the early days of the civil war in 1967. It lasted for roughly a day(September 19-20 1967) before it capitulated to federal forces. |

bakila: Thanks for the correction. With time there'll be alignment and realignment with others that share common ideology and historical heritage, but we'll start from somewhere - Nigeria. |

By the time the fg send battalions to every disturbing areas in Nigeria (southeast states, southwest states, northeast, kaduna, bendel and other locations that will soon experience uprising), I wonder how many soldiers will be left in the barracks. Buhari has succeeded in dividing this nation with his body language and his despotic ways of rulership. If Nigeria succeeds to stay together till the end of baba's tenure then I doubt if Nigeria will ever disintegrate again. This is a trying time for Nigeria. Many ppl are almost fed up with the govt, no matter how much you pretend. Deep down in your heart you know all its not well. Either restructuring or disintegration, something fast needs to be done before the situation gets out of hand. I used to be a proud Nigerian but not anymore 1 Like |

life2017: You should go back to school. There was never a time in historic horizon any Igbo land was under Benin Empire. Any Oba of Benin that even ventured south-ward regretted every bit of such suicidal endeavor. When the so-called Benin Empire was smashed by the British and the so-called Oba exiled to faraway destination, Ndigbo via Ekumeku still had British in their crosshair. There was cough from any person under the so-called Benin Empire after the British had the Oba confiscated and bundled into exile. Yet British never had a rest of mind in Igbo land. The creation of regions or states does not delineate the lines between tribes or cut cultural affinity. There were Igbo in the defunct Midwestern region of Nigeria and even first premier of the region was Igbo man from Asaba. 1 Like |
