This is not fair coming from this fellow! So, because I am a doctor, I wouldn't switch off my phones even when I am not on call? No personal life? No family time? I would sacrifice all to do the job but when I ask for improved welfare, you all gang up and relieve me of my job and impose threatening conditions of service. I understand the need for being committed and so on but for crying out loud, most of our hospitals are badly understaffed. So, we already take more calls than should, see more patients than the right doctor patient ratio suggests and someone still wants to crucify me on switching off my phone when not on duty?! Let's drop the messianic complex biko, doctors and other health workers are humans too and have their own needs outside a hospital setting. Well, it's just easier to say somethings when one crosses to the other side of life. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Hmmmm, this is poo, Will the best of attitude of the doctors make the sick well with all bad equipment in d hospital? It's part of the problem though but how do u expect so much from someone u don't give his due? We will all shout service to humanity but how does that pay fees for the doctors kids N feed their families? Let get it rite by making the hospital properly equipped, paying salaries as at when due then the issue of attitude can be taken care of by relevant medical bodies. Let start from rite place. 2 Likes |

Amarabae: So u expect the relatives to sitdown and watch how irresponsible nurses like u don't attend to every need of patients abi? Itss nurses like u dat I like to meet when I go to visit people in hospitals. I almost slapped one matron at a govt hospital, she was lucky my uncle held my hand. Most nurses working in govt hospitals are too proud, stvpid and feel like they own the hospital. |

Amarabae:Your duty is to get her relative treated. You are paid for that. Getting respect from the relatives isnt part of the bargain. Its still part of the professional indiscipline we are talking about. I hate doctors especially the young one,s. All they think of is money and women. The instant you are smart enough to ask critical health questions they run to wikipedia to diagnose your problem |

Health workers and their defenders on this forum that always slam us when we complain about their attitude should come and see what one of their Ogas have to say. Only the truth shall set us free. No sector in this country is having it good but most of us do our best to give our clients at least a good attention. The same cannot be said of public health workers. Peace. |

Attitudes...a major issue...ask the prof when last he had a clinical review or wardround of patients in his unit even before being a CMD.,.. One major problem in Nigeria health system is the he irresponsible seniors of the profession. Consultants which are being paid hardly come for their WEEKLY round (which should be daily) , most hardly even do surgeries not to talk of call duties for emergencies.only to push their responsibilities to their resident doctors. Overall it's a sad story. |

I will never forget the day I went to general hospital... they had some accident victims one of them kept on complaining about a certain pain in his ribs and the drip had stop moving, the nurses kept on gossiping and chewing gum till the man gave up. that day I lost hope in the medical system. fear they catch me to go hospital now self. 1 Like |

The sweeping generalization you are making here is simply stupid. All I am reading from you is raw emotions devoid of facts. I need to know the source of these percentage analysis oozing out from every mouth in Nigeria. Even an illiterate will tell you 60% of this is that "without proof" and to everyone, that's just ok, no.... it is not. |
