And that is how more Nigerians will loose their lives to auto accidents for nothing. Africans never learn. If it's not good enough for them white folks, its not good enough for you. Y'all should stop buying junks and using "things hard" as excuse.

Hah flooded cars? Welcome to Nigeria where we wade through ponds, lakes and rivers every rainy season. Where water carries car from compound into main road every June. If water no enter my door, that means I didn't drive this year.

I don't want any car that has not been through a flood, because if those can still run, then they have passed the most difficult test of all. Bring them, bring them... at least US flood is cleaner grin

Best practice when you get a new car... have a trusted and competent mechanic inspect and service it. Flush fluids, let it dry. Then lube, and reassemble. My friend (excellent mechanic) and I have been doing things together more than 15 years now. The guy can pieces car, remove engine and hang it from tree within 1 day.

It's easier said. Trekking isn't a better option if one can't afford a car in good condition(brand new). We have more problems than rejecting preciously "soaked old cars".
Lose not loose.

For me ooooo..... I just wanna ask

Autojoshng are you saying these flooded cars can't be restored back to their original state before they were flooded?

Or even after restoring these cars to their original state, problems won't pop up as a result of the car being flooded before?

Why advising Nigerians to beware when it is what they have been praying for, can Nigerians buy new cars?

AutoJoshNG:
Are you thinking of buying a car soon? Probably Yes.

So be careful as flooded cars will be hitting the Nigerian Auto Market pretty soon. With over 1,000,000 cars being totaled by Hurricane Harvey and Irma... a great chunk of them is definitely heading to Nigeria.

Our Government will prolly do nothing to stop these cars from getting here.. but you can do something to prevent yourself from buying one.

Buying a cheap and flooded car will most likely do you more harm than good.. such cars usually give unlimited issues like engine knock, transmission problems and some other epileptic attitudes like windows rolling down instead of going up or the volume of the sound system going up while you are trying to reduce some noise.

Do a thorough inspection, do a VIN check before you buy the next and don't fall victim of a lemon car.

Have you gotten one of such flooded cars before, tell us your experience in the comment section.

Don't forget to share.

Nigerians do not seem to understand that flooded cars are problematic. The are prone to electrical issues and fire. Most cars sold by car dealers are either flooded or accident vehicles.

who told u? do you know what it means for a car to be flooded, mostly by sea water( salt water)? water with high salinity is capable of destroying anything.

I totally agree with you and was thinking before that not all of the flood might have not flow from the sea...

The good, bad and ugly will land Nigeria becos Nigeria is tagged second hand market Country. I wonder when this country will get out of this shame. Meanwhile, the leaders that pushed us into this mess buys new cars.

I can bet a sizeable proportion of these cars will end up in Nigeria undecided
