Muharram Is the first month of the Islamic Calendar. The meaning of the word:- The word "Muharram" means "Forbidden." Even before Islam, this month was always known as a sacred month in which all unlawful acts were forbidden, prominently the shedding of blood. A blessing of Muharram:- There are many bounties of this month, especially the tenth of Muharram. Two of the many virtues of the 10th of Muharram:- On this day he who spends more lavishly for the sake of his family members, Allah Ta'aalaa will bestow blessing upon the sustenance of the following year. Abu Qataada (R.A.) has related that the Prophet has reported to have said, It is my thought that by fasting on the 10th of Muharram Allah Ta'aalaa will pardon the sins of the past year. (Tirmizi) Events of Muharram:- PRIOR TO ISLAM *Adam (A.S.) was born and had entered Paradise on the 10th of Muharram. *Ayyub (A.S.) was cured from his illness. *A way was made in the sea for Bani Israel. *Suleman (A.S.) was ordained King. *The oceans and Heavens were created. (Tanbihul-Gaafileen) During Islam:- Hadhrat Hussain (R.A.) was martyred in this month. Shaykhain Tirmizi & Haakim has narrated from Anas (R.A) that the following verse: "Allah may forgive thee of thy sins that which is past and that which is to come." (Al-Fath) was revealed on the 10th of Muharram. The Prophet Muhammed went to defeat Bani Muhaarin and Bani Tha'laba (Tribes of Bani Gatfan) in the year 4 A.H. (Asahhus-siyar) Qiyaamah will take place on the 10th of Muharram.

# Apart from the bold above (about the martyrdom of Imam Hussain) that have authentic date to be 10th of Muharram in Mutawattir reports, all other above mentioned events do not have substantial evidence that they all happened on the 10th of Muharram. Please if you think otherwise with authentic evidences, kindly share with me.


# You highlighted above that various BLESSINGS happened to various Prophets of Allah in this month of Muharram (with no substantial evidence), how is the killing of the grandson of the holy Prophet together with 72 members of his household (including a 6 months old baby) and companions, a blessings/bounty?

* Have you heard this Hadith of our Prophet before, "Husseinu minni, wa ana minal Hussein - Hussein is from me and I am from Hussein"?

Narrated Anas ibn Malik: "The angel of rain asked his Lord
permission to visit the Prophet, peace be upon him. He gave (the angel) permission and this day he (the Prophet) was with Umm Salamah, the mother of Believers. The Prophet told her, 'Guard the door and do not let anyone come in.'

He said: "While she was at the door, Hussein ibn Ali burst into the room. So the Prophet began to hug him and kiss him.

The angel said: 'Do you love him?' He said: "Yes". The angel
said: "Your Ummah (nation) will kill him."

He said: "If you wish, I will show you the place in which they
will kill him." So he took a handful of soil from the place in
which he will be killed and he showed it. It was "Sahla" or red soil.' So Umm Salamah took it, and collected it on her clothes.

Thaabit says: "We would say that it was from Karbala ."

Commentator says: In Musnad Ahmad, it says, "he struck
his hand and brought red sand."

Comments: The chain of narrators is good. Ahmad has narrated it and Abu Na'eem in "Dalaail al-Nubuwah" and Ahmad has narrated it with two chains. Al-Haythami has mentioned in Majma al-Zawa'id saying: Ahmad has narrated it and Abu Ya'la and Bazzar and Tabarani with chains including "Imarah Ibn Zaathaan and a
group of scholars have deemed him trustworthy. In him
there is weakness (according to verifier) and the rest of the
narrators of Abu Ya'la are all sahih.
