It has been a monumental torture that igbos gave subjected themselves as refugees when they are not invaded. We might be excused in the 70's that the region was totally destroyed and burnt but fast-forward to 40years after, the region still looks like a war-turned area. Thinking that the eastern region accounts for close to 45million people based on projection, the underdevelopment in the region should be a shame to its stakeholders.

For over 40years, we have been having excuses that government has been blocking every route therein towards development but I'll say, there has been lackadaisical attitude coming from we igbos to develop our homeland. As high as 80% of graduates churned from different higher institutions in the east leave the region just two weeks after graduation. Their destination seem to be other comfortable region which its people have prepared through either having an economic plan or sleeping with the government.

The question now lies, if over 50% of Igbo's do not leave in its region, what signal are we sending to investors and tourists? We have gotten too comfortable in our neighbors' houses and refuse to make our bed. If we continue to operate with this nonchalant attitude towards our homestead, then I give to you, there will no Igbo in the next 50years. Our children will be considered second fiddle everywhere. We will be targets of molestation and extra-judicial killings. In fact we will have no identity.

This is a painful realization because before the civil war, we had a plan and we had people who were driving the plan. This was the reason why Nnamdi Azikiwe boasted that we were going to dominate Nigeria and Africa. If he did not have a plan or better still, the whole region didn't have a robust plan, he couldn't have made such statement which has brought nothing but hate from different quarters.

I ask every well meaning Igbo right now, when is the best time to develop your economic potentials? Today or never!

Only free people develop themselves and their economic potential.

Igbos cannot develop themselves when it is Abuja that decides everything.

Self development comes with freedom and sovereingty. When Igbo land is free from Nigeria, it will develop its self

The concept that only free people can trigger development is not completely true because many states in Nigeria are creating economic hubs for themselves without the help of the federal government. Take for example, Lagos, a state who created lekki phase 1 & 2, banana island and eko Atlantic city without the help of the federal government.

I know for certain that an independent country will definitely want to develop. But leaving every moves towards economic emancipation till we get a country will backfire. The lives of Igbo's are at first very important than a geographic space.
