President-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nwodo, has advised Igbos to forget about Biafra and push for restructuring.

Nwodo stated this on Thursday while speaking at the 3rd inauguration of the state and local government executives of the Abia state chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

He said the realisation of Biafra was a “tall order”, which would not be in the overall interest of the Igbo in their socio-economic and political relationships with other Nigerians.

“We should forget Biafra and insist on restructuring. We must seek for peaceful ways of resolving the issues,” Nwodo said.

Nwodo also urged members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to tone down their words, as hate speeches would not resolve any problem.

He said the proscription of the activities of IPOB by the South-East governors prevented bloodshed.

Mr. Nwodo, peaceful ways have NEVER worked in Nigeria!

I wish Nigeria is a country where dialogue and peaceful settlement of differences reign supreme.

Well, our president prefers force.

Python dance has reset una brain

These old men were afraid of possible excommunication by Kanu's Army when they foolishly thought that the Failure kanu who still stays in his father's house at 50 can pull down the "giant of Africa" under the supervision of the "PEOPLES GENERAL

Better late than never

Enugu state Governor has tactically selected the men he will work with in the name of councillors and chairman against the wish of the people, same with other states and you keep telling me the Haausa/fulanis are the cause of our under-development

The global crash of crude oil prices leading to recession and lack of excess money to share and throw around with many Governors owing salaries is the major reason every body is buying into the restructuring agenda at the moment

If nigeria doesn't restructure thru dialogue. It would happen anyway because the economy would collapse on its own weight at some point. It's happening already. Distressed states. Strikes etc

The real issue driving aggitations is INEQUALITY (at the moment its Buhari's nepotism). There's no real assurance that the creation of a new state will address that right away. On the other hand, a restructured Nigeria will give the East chance to determine its future, address its internal issues, consolidate on its strategic advantages and eventualy become more prepared for the creation of a new state if need be.

Nwodo is a blessing to the Igbo race. A true one, though i don't think "forget" was the right word to use.

To me it is Biafra or Death, anything short of this is an act of cowardice! cheesy

Biafrans and changing of goal post is like bread and butter.
