South American World Cup qualifying just got more interesting tonight with Lionel Messi’s Argentina slipping out of the play-off spot after a disappointing 0-0 home draw against Peru. With one more game left away to Ecuador, Argentina can still qualify with a win in that match and if Chile, Colombia or Peru drop points in their final games. Peru face Colombia and Chile face Brazil in their final group games. A win for Argentina in Ecuador should see them at least take 5th position and enter a 2-legged play-off with Oceania World Cup qualifying 3rd Round winner, New Zealand.
