On December 15, AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) will be shutdown. The sad news was announced officially today. Oath, by the way, is the Verizon subsidiary that holds the combined operations of Yahoo and AOL.
Anyway, this news is quite shocking as no one has yet known it will be shutting down soon!
Although, AIM messenger is still active but also note it’s dying soon.
However, AIM started out as the built-in chat app inside America online’s desktop client. It took of in United States in 1997. So, AIM live until the age of 20 years and now, it’s time for it to leave.
Yahoo messenger is likely candidate for that role when Oath hasn’t revealed plan to replace AIM with anything else.
