- President Buhari has called for an end to the public bickering between Kachikwu and Baru

- The minister of state for petroleum met with President Buhari

- The president called for sanity over the issue

President Muhammadu Buhari has called for sanity in the embarrassing public debacle between minister of state for petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu and Maikanti Baru, the group managing director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.

Vanguard reports that the president specifically ordered that pubic bickering must stop.

The minister had met with the president at the Aso Rock Villa on Friday, October 6 and a source privy to the meeting Buhari spoke about compelling needs “to tackle issues such as attacks on oil and gas facilities, funding of new projects and rehabilitation of refineries as well as implementation of Nigeria’s new petroleum policy in order to guarantee long term survival of the nation’s oil and gas industry. “

Vanguard reported that in the policy, there was articulation for “a vision for the petroleum industry and sets policy goals, strategies and an implementation plan for the introduction of an appropriate institutional, legal, regulatory and commercial framework to resolve the barriers currently affecting investment in the sector.

“It is intended that this policy will be reviewed and updated periodically to ensure consistency in Government policy objectives at all times. Once issued and gazetted, any policy position set out herein will bind Government officials unless and until amended or replaced by a formal restatement of policy duly gazetted by the Government.”

NAIJ.com gathered that Kachikwu had alleged that the NNPC boss had repeatedly sidelined and disrespected the board of the national oil firm, which is chaired by the minister of state.

The minister, in a leaked letter, had informed Buhari that against the rules, some over $25bn contracts were never reviewed or discussed with him or the board of NNPC.

NAIJ.com also gathered that Kachikwu was also at the Villa on Thursday, October 5 where he held a brief meeting with the Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari.

The meeting with Buhari is coming three days after a memo from the minister to the president leaked. In the memo, dated August 30, Mr. Kachikwu accused the Group Managing Director of the state oil firm, NNPC, Maikanti Baru, of insubordination and violation of due process.

So now the president is calling for calm on this grievious allegation of awarding over $25b contract without due process, but will not call for calm on the issue of diezani loots, the deodorant and insecticide statement of senator Shehu Sanni comes to mind, please corruption is corruption irrespective of party affiliation, I was expecting "Mr. Integrity" to allow the EFCC swung into action as is their custom, to fully investigate and prosecute offenders, but now the presidency is calling for calm, ladies and gentlemen do u see how this government is fighting corruption??

There is no public bickering. Kachikwu felt slighted by Barau and wrote PMB a letter months ago which got leaks to the press last week. There has been no bickering. Both guys kept mum since last week.

What we want to know is what Mr. President has done about that letter to instil discipline or inspire confidence he is in charge.

To buhari, the public do not matter in this. Wha t matters to him id they keep shut and allow the money sail to its destined destination inside their private coffers.

Deodorant n insecticide theory comes to mind. What is Dasuki's value again ? Last administration sat down on a round table and shared our resourced, i wonder what shape of table Buhari is sitting down around with his cabinet in walloping our resources.
