Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu says the State is ready to support the federal government to actualize its proposed electricity project in Ariaria International Market, Aba, which is aimed at achieving steady power supply.

The Governor made this known when he welcomed a delegation of the Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria, who paid him a courtesy call at Aba.

According to the Governor, electric power is an important resource to drive economic growth in the nation. He expressed joy that the federal government has heeded to the cry of the State and responded accordingly and urged Aba people to engage more equipment and ensure they produce more shoes, garments and other products.

Governor Ikpeazu said the entire Ariaria market community would be happy with the project when it is finally realised.

Earlier in her speech, the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria, Mrs. Damilola Ogumbiyi said the delegation came to see how to provide energy solution to the Ariaria International Market.

She said that the team has identified the energy needs of Ariaria International Market, disclosing that the power would run with sustainable natural gas solution, adding few thousands of shops in Ariaria market would be used for a test-run of the electric power system.
